Opportunity to work at the VA Hospital in Salem, VA

 THE SHORT: We need three (3) Anesthesiologists for positions at the Salem VA Health Care System in Salem, VA, for a long-term federal contract. Mon-Fri daytime schedule. Pay $410/hr. 1099, all-inclusive. Any state license. Board Certified/Board Eligible. U.S. Citizens required.

LOCATION: Salem VA Health Care System (HCS), 1970 Roanoke Boulevard, Salem, VA 24153

 START DATE / DURATION:

  • Anticipated start: September 21, 2026, subject to contract award, credentialing, privileging, and onboarding.
  • 5-year contract.
  • Note: The duration of the contract is between the government and Wander Staffing. As with any position, if life requires you to leave, please provide a 60-day notice.

COMPENSATION:

  • $410/hr
  • 1099, all-inclusive
  • We cover Med Mal (claims made + tail)

 SCHEDULE:

  • Mon-Fri 07:00-15:30
  • No Call/weekends/holiday coverage anticipated

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Citizen of the United States
  • Board Certified/Board Eligible by the ABA
  • Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. state, territory, commonwealth, or DC
  • Current BLS and ACLS
  • Current DEA certificate and NPI
  • Must meet VA credentialing, privileging, training, and background/security requirements

 MODEL:

  • Typically medically direct CRNAs
  • Personally perform anesthesia 30% of the time

 DEPARTMENT:

  • Current department makeup is 1 Anesthesiologist and 5 CRNAs. Growing the team by an additional 3 Anesthesiologists.
  • Number of ORs: pending answers from the gvt
  • Number and type of out-of-OR anesthesia locations: pending answers from the gvt
  • Typical daily staffing: pending answers from the gvt
  • Charting/anesthesia documentation system: pending answers from the gvt

 CASE VOLUME:

  • 2500-3000 cases/year

 CASE TYPES:

  • Ortho, urology, podiatry, GI, B&B, some thoracic, some vascular, majority outpatient.
  • NO cardiac, OB, pediatrics, neuro, or trauma.
