Job Overview

The Visual Merchandiser is responsible for executing and maintaining compelling visual displays to enhance the shopping experience and promote products.  You will be focused on visual presentations, seasonal fashion trend statements, three dimensional propping, vinyl applications, promotional events and corporate shop concepts.

What You Will Do

  • Creatively execute all Visual Merchandising projects and Marketing Campaigns in assigned departments on a monthly, quarterly, and seasonal basis. 
  • Demonstrate resourcefulness when executing assigned projects by adding elements that compliment Macy’s style formats.
  • Select merchandise from selling floor to style mannequins, forms, and/or drapers
  • Exhibit strong awareness of Fashion trends.
  • Maintain high customer readiness through a brand right and elevated shopping environment while maintaining accessibility standards at all times.
  • Install collateral for promotional and special events in accordance with marketing calendar.
  • Install all vinyl ,wall signing ,prop collateral per company direction.
  • Construct, paint, staple, glue, install three dimensional visual collateral per company direction.
  • Set-up and maintain fixtures using hand tools, such as saws , hammers, screwdrivers, staple guns, ladders, scissors, nails, spray paint, spray glue, and knives
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities

Skills You Will Need

Subject Matter Expertise: Knowledge of art, design, fashion, and interior decoration

Communication: Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to facilitate open and continuous communication within the team and across functional lines

Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues at all levels and across departments

Creativity: Possess vision and have ability to think creatively

Organization: Strong sense of urgency and able to shift priorities as needed

Who you are

  • Flexible availability, including days, evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Self-starter in adapting quickly to changing customer expectations and needs
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in Art or Merchandising is preferred
  • Merchandise or Visual presentation experience is preferred

Essential Physical Requirements You Will Perform

  • This position requires constant moving, talking, hearing, lifting, standing, and reaching with arms and hands.
    • Involves standing for at least two consecutive hours, lifting at least 30lbs., stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders
    • Reaching, including above eye level
    • Requires close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment
  • Frequent use of computers and other technology, necessary to perform job functions, including handheld equipment, cash register and ability to process register transactions
