Job description

At Merrifield Garden Center, we strive to provide an unparalleled selection of the highest quality plants and gardening products. We are dedicated to continuous education and sharing our gardening guidance with employees and customers alike. Founded in 1971, Merrifield Garden Center is a family run, full-service garden center, nursery, and landscaping company with two locations in Northern Virginia and an extended family of over 500 employees.
We are looking for two friendly and reliable people to work as customer service specialists inside our home décor and garden stores at our Fair Oaks location. Candidates for this position must be personable and responsible.
Some of the primary responsibilities include:
  • Greeting customers in the store with a positive and friendly attitude.
  • Educating customers on the products we carry and providing recommendations.
  • Creating visually stimulating product displays.
  • Unboxing, pricing and restocking products.
  • Cleaning up the areas inside the store to keep the floor tidy and organized.

This position is part time and evening and weekend availability is required.
The ideal candidate must possess the following skills:
  • Friendly, respectful, professional attitude.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to stand or be physically active for hours at a time.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Works well with teams and in a team environment.
  • Willingness to assist in other departments as needed (e.g., Phone Room, Cashier, etc.).
  • Design background or experience with interior design is a plus.
  • Merchandising and retail experience are a plus but not required.
