Overview:
The Director of Corporate Retail is responsible for strategic leadership and oversight in all aspects of retail, product selection, merchandising, trend identification, vendor terms and planning of all retail outlets across the Omni portfolio of hotels and resorts.
This position is an in office role based at the Omni Hotels & Resorts corporate office in Dallas, TX.
Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for creating a luxury, indulgent shopping experience at all new and existing retail spaces through lighting, color, sound, scent, and visual communication via visual displays and merchandising.
  • Responsible for new retail store set up to ensure artistic display of merchandise. Identify theatrical props, unique store fixtures and displays to create an experiential shopping experience. Stimulate customers' perceptual and emotional responses that influence their purchasing behavior.
  • Works in conjunction with the Corporate Director of Interior Design on all new retail and re concept store designs to ensure proper layout of floor and wall displays thus creating strong visual effects in merchandising displays. Maximize visual effects and exposure of retail merchandise to increase sales by square foot.
  • Ensure integrity of each store layouts are documented and sustained via agreed planogram schematics per retail store.
  • Responsible for retail concepts and retail merchandise assortment plan. Directly involved in new retail store set ups, retail store re-imaginations, merchandise selection, and presentation.
  • Collaborate with Buyers to review budgeted metrics including sales, stock plans and product flow to monitor and measure the performance of vendors and apparel lines.
  • Attend the major retail market shows and vendor presentations to understand market trends. Ensure the retail stores are current with new luxury, exclusive and unique products that represent each local market's demographics and hotel customers.
  • Review merchandise selection to leverage buying power while maintaining individuality of each property.
  • Review and direct the tracking of inventory and pricing alignment to ensure consistency in cost of sales, maximization of turnover of merchandise and reduction of shrinkage.
  • Review month end inventory and merchandising plans with the property finance and retail departments.
  • Support annual operating budgets for retail - including revenue per occupied rooms, cost of goods, staffing and merchandise plans.
  • Operational review to determine proper documentation and procedures on sales and inventory controls. Establish course correction.
  • Develop best practice implementation and solutions for retail stores, properties and company.
  • Assist with identifying and selecting property Directors of Retail
  • Conduct routine quarterly visits to retail stores based on performance.
  • Travel requirements: up to 50% annually

Qualifications:
  • Ten or more years of successful retail management experience of stores with annual sales in excess of $40 million and prior multiple unit leadership responsibility.
  • Demonstrated ability on how to develop retail concepts and/or store ideas.
  • Proven ability to lead, direct, manage and develop high performing teams.
  • Has demonstrated experience in developing, training and/or directing the proper merchandising standards for a retail store in an upscale environment. Should be able to create a block floor plan with appropriate adjacencies and focal points with an awareness of how best to feature vendors and products.
  • Strong presentation skills. Able to clearly and concisely articulate a position and willing to compromise opinion for the benefit of consensus or concise direction.
  • Demonstrate understanding of selling key performance indicators and how to drive improvement in sales results.
  • High level of energy, personal accountability; passion for excellence which drives financial results.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Retail Merchandising, Business Administration, Marketing, Fashion Merchandising, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and 10+ years of progressive luxury retail leadership experience, including multi-unit oversight, merchandising strategy, and retail concept development, will be considered.
