Job Description

At RCL, our eCommerce experience is the digital flagship for our brands — Reitmans, RW&CO., and Penn.
As Product Owner, Digital Commerce – Storefront (Shopify), reporting to the Director of Product, Digital Experience, you will lead the planning, prioritization, and delivery of enhancements across our Shopify storefronts and supporting app ecosystem. You will own the evolution of the online shopping experience and act as the key link between business stakeholders and technical teams to deliver high‑impact, customer‑focused solutions.

Responsibilities

Planning & Strategy

  • Own the product backlog for Shopify storefront and app ecosystem enhancements across assigned brands.
  • Translate business objectives (conversion, AOV, engagement, operational efficiency) into clearly defined problem statements and user stories.
  • Partner with the Product Management team to define quarterly roadmaps aligned to business KPIs.
  • Evaluate and recommend Shopify-native capabilities, custom development, or third-party apps as appropriate solutions.

Execution & Delivery

  • Write and maintain user stories, acceptance criteria, and technical documentation in Jira.
  • Lead sprint planning, backlog grooming, and daily collaboration with development teams.
  • Ensure solutions are scalable, reusable across brands where appropriate, and aligned with platform best practices.
  • Coordinate releases across storefront themes, Shopify configurations, and integrated apps.
  • Partner with QA to validate functionality, regression impacts, and cross-brand consistency.
  • Monitor post-launch performance (CVR, AOV, bounce rate, site speed, etc.) and recommend iterative improvements.

Storefront & App Ecosystem Ownership

  • Own enhancements related to:
    • Homepage, navigation, and content components
    • Collection pages (PLP), product detail pages (PDP)
    • Promotions and merchandising logic
    • Search and filtering
    • Cart and checkout optimizations
    • Reviews, UGC, personalization, and third-party app integrations
  • Assess and manage dependencies between Shopify core, apps, APIs, and external platforms (PIM, CMS, loyalty, analytics, etc.).
  • Support governance around app usage, ensuring performance, security, and ROI alignment.

Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams for storefront initiatives.
  • Guide stakeholders to articulate business problems rather than predefined solutions.
  • Manage cross-brand alignment to ensure a cohesive experience where appropriate.
  • Communicate roadmap progress, trade-offs, and release impacts clearly.

Continuous Improvement & Optimization

  • Drive a test-and-learn culture (A/B testing, UX experiments, merchandising experiments).
  • Identify friction points in the customer journey and propose data-informed improvements.
  • Stay current on Shopify roadmap, ecosystem innovations, and digital commerce trends.
  • Partner with Analytics to measure impact and validate hypotheses.
Qualifications

Experience & qualifications

  • 5–8+ years of experience in digital product management, ideally within eCommerce or retail.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Shopify (Shopify Plus/Enterprise is preferred).
  • Experience managing Shopify applications and third-party integrations.
  • Experience with QA processes, regression testing, and release management.
  • Experience in fashion, retail, or multi-brand environments is strongly preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Strong ability to write clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and supporting documentation.
  • Ability to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions delivered in an Agile environment.
  • Strong understanding of eCommerce KPIs (CVR, AOV, LTV, bounce rate, site speed).
  • Experience with analytics tools (GA4, MicroStrategy; basic SQL is preferred).

Soft Skills

  • Clear communication, strong ability to simplify complex topics, and effective collaboration with cross-functional teams (marketing, merchandising, IT, and external partners).
  • Strong prioritization skills with the ability to manage ambiguity and make value-driven decisions.
  • Strong attention to detail with a results-oriented mindset.
  • Curiosity, analytical thinking, and a customer-centric approach.

Language

  • Bilingualism (French and English) is a strong asset to support effective collaboration with internal and external teams and to operate within internal tools.
