Job description

Overview
The Director of Retail Lending is responsible for all activities related to the origination and servicing of residential mortgage and consumer loans, and ensuring that established customer service, loan quality, profitability and compliance standards are adhered to throughout the entire loan cycle.
Responsibilities
  • Oversees all residential and consumer loan related activities. Determines customer service and production standards, and the policies and procedures to ensure performance according to said standards. Establishes goals, priorities and objectives and develops tactics to achieve them.
  • Determines the department's plan of organization. Selects, supervises and provides for the continued development of the staff. Conducts performance reviews for direct reports and provides for ongoing guidance and support. Coaches and supervises direct reports in doing the same for their staff. Supports sales and incentive compensation programs.
  • Develops new loan products and services, improves upon existing ones and establishes and leverages relationships with investors and state housing agencies in order to provide competitive and profitable loan products and maximize production, income and portfolio growth.
  • Responsible for the continued refinement of the bank's credit quality and loan documentation standards, and the appropriate application by the lending staff.
  • Responsible for regulatory compliance within the department, and in particular, the application of Fair Lending standards. Interprets state and federal regulations, and develops appropriate policies and procedures. Facilitates internal and external exams and audits, oversees responses and implements corrections.
  • Ensures full compliance with the bank's Information Security Policies and Procedures.
  • Supports bank's overall CRA objectives, and endures that the bank attains its residential loan goals.
  • Works with the Community Banking division in order to achieve mutual objectives and ensure that loan applicants receive the best possible service throughout the entire process.
  • Oversees the selection, implementation and testing of systems and software utilized within the department, and ensures the most efficient and cost effective utilization. Leads review and development of alternative delivery channels and use of technology to improve service delivery and manage costs.
  • Resolves unusual loan situations and/or customer complaints, and provides alternative solutions to meet customers' needs. Provides second reviews for the more complex loans or those required by policy. Addresses problem loans in conjunction with collections, managed assets and commercial lending departments.
  • Represents the Bank through active participation in community and industry organizations and events and promotes the business interests of the Bank. Refers sales opportunities to other departments or bank affiliates in support of established objectives.
  • Performs other duties as may be required.

Requirements
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent is required

Work Experience
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in residential and consumer lending, sales and management.
  • A demonstrated expertise in business development, recruiting, coaching and sales management.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of secondary market guidelines, industry standards and regulatory requirements and their effective application within the loan processing function.
  • Effective analytical, managerial, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and customer service skills. The ability to work effectively with other areas of the organization and employees at all levels.

  • LOAN AUTHORITY: Up to the maximum as approved by the Risk Oversight Committee.

Expected Pay Range
From: $114,755
To: $203,718
The pay range is the salary we in good faith expect to pay for this role at the time of posting. Actual compensation paid may fluctuate higher or lower than the posted range and the range may be modified in the future due to several factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, certifications, and qualifications, internal equity, adjustments to the requirements and responsibilities of the job, business needs, and economic and market data.
