SUMMARY

The Store Director is responsible for overseeing the overall operations of a supermarket, ensuring efficient and profitable business performance. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills to manage day-to-day operations, enhance customer satisfaction, and drive store growth. The Store Director will lead a team of department managers and staff, ensuring that all store activities align with company policies, procedures, and objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee daily store operations, including inventory management, sales, and customer service.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to drive sales, increase profitability, and meet performance targets.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of department managers and store staff, fostering a positive work environment.
  • Monitor and analyze sales performance, customer feedback, and market trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, food safety standards, and company policies.
  • Manage store budgets, expenses, and financial reports, ensuring all financial targets are met.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to ensure the availability of products, negotiate pricing, and manage stock levels.
  • Handle customer complaints and issues in a professional and timely manner.
  • Plan and execute promotional events and marketing initiatives to drive traffic and sales.
  • Ensure store layout, merchandising, and product displays are aligned with company guidelines and optimize the customer shopping experience.
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness, organization, and safety within the store.
  • Maintains a safe work environment

  • Manages subordinate supervisors who supervise Associates in the store.Β 
  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit.Β 
  • Directly supervises non-supervisory associates.Β 
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Training Associates; planning, assigning, and directing work.
  • Appraising performance; rewarding and coaching Associates.
  • Addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
  • One to three months related experience and/or training;
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.Β 
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.Β 
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Β MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to work with Supermarket math concepts such as addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, percentages, distribution, penetration, gross profit, and Sales Per Associate Hour.
