School Description

Resurrection College Prep High School is a Catholic Christian school for young women located on the northwest side of Chicago and near Park Ridge. Established in 1922, Resurrection has a long history of encouraging young women to discover their true potential and prepare them for success in college, career, and life. Through our Practicum Job Shadowing Program and numerous extra-curricular opportunities, we build confidence and prepare young women for leadership positions.

Qualifications

Dispositions: The successful candidate will aim to mediate a Catholic Culture within the school faith community, communicate Catholic moral and intellectual values, provide strong, collaborative leadership in the areas of curriculum and instruction, develop joyful and professional interpersonal relationships with stakeholders, and view their service as a vocation that is grounded in truth, charity, and the characteristics of Lasallian ministry.

โ— Must have the ability to travel to/from Resurrection College Prep High School.

โ— Accredited degree from a 4-year college or university in the field of English.

โ— Teaching Certification and/or Master's Degree in English is ideal.

โ— Ability to complete background check and Archdiocese of Chicago Virtus training.

Experience:

1. Three or more years of secondary school experience is preferred, with experience when necessary.

2. A demonstrated understanding of content-area curricular trends and instructional best practices, as well as curriculum design and implementation in an Understanding by Design framework, strengthens application.


Summary

The English teacher is primarily responsible for providing student learning for assigned English courses. The teacher will implement curricula, design UbD maps, promote a positive learning environment, develop the program, and coordinate fall and spring student performances. This position is FTE, a 100% full-time position.


Relationships

Collaborates with and is supported by the Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction, Division Chair, department colleagues, and faculty. Supports, cultivates, and mentors students. Partners with the parents to maximize student success. Reports to the Principal.

Education and licensure

An undergraduate degree in an appropriate field from a regionally accredited college/university is required. An active, registered, and endorsed Illinois Professional Educator License is required at the time of application and must be maintained during the appointment. This does not apply to those areas that do not offer licensure. In the absence of a Professional Educator Licensee, an agreement with school leadership will be in place prior to appointment.

Faculty members are expected to:

1. Implement curricula and academic interventions that meet grade-level standards.

2. Design and implement assessments that measure studentsโ€™ progress toward grade-level standards.

3. Use student assessment data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices.

4. Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues

5. Create a positive, achievement-oriented, and structured learning environment that excites and invests students.

6. Collaborate with teachers and leaders to improve instructional, culture-building, and leadership skills by maintaining a cooperative and positive attitude that supports the mission and goals of the school.

7. Maintain grading records, record daily attendance, and complete all required record keeping as designated by administration.

8. Maintain open communication with all members of the school faith community.

9. Be responsive to ongoing instructional coaching and a growth mindset to increase student success.

10. Attend and fully engage in all professional development, staff meetings, liturgies, and school events such as but not limited to formation experiences, Back to School Night, Open House, Baccalaureate, and Graduation.

11. Follow all expectations as outlined in the 2026-2027 Faculty Contract and Handbook.

12. Any other duty as assigned by the school administration.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Facilitate, guide, and provide a level of instruction to students.

2. Instruct students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of Resurrection College Prep High School.

3. Develop organized, planned student management and instructional delivery systems that provide necessary modifications for special needs students as directed by supervisors.

4. Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance and report those records as required by the administration.

5. Establish and maintain standards of pupil conduct needed to provide a safe and secure learning environment.

6. Select and request the instructional materials and aids necessary for the success of all students.

7. Maintain professional competence through attendance at required seminars, internal team meetings and workshops, other professional activities, and, if necessary, graduate school

8. Communicate effectively and punctually with parents and school personnel relative to student progress.

9. Participate in curriculum and other subject area committees as requested.

10. These qualifications are not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary by the Principal.

Division Chair Responsibilities (if applicable)

In addition to teaching responsibilities, the Division Chair provides instructional leadership and supports the continued growth and alignment of the English department. Responsibilities include:

โ—‹ Ensure vertical and horizontal alignment across courses, including shared texts, writing expectations, and skill progression

โ—‹ Support teachers through collaboration, feedback, and modeling of best practices

โ—‹ Partner with the Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction to support coaching cycles and instructional growth

โ— Assessment & Data Use

โ—‹ Facilitate the use of common assessments and data analysis to inform instruction

โ—‹ Monitor student performance trends and support interventions to improve outcomes

โ— Department Coordination

โ—‹ Lead and facilitate department meetings

โ—‹ Support planning for major assessments, writing benchmarks, and instructional pacing

โ—‹ Coordinate course materials, texts, and instructional resources

โ— Communication & Collaboration

โ—‹ Serve as a liaison between administration and the English department

โ—‹ Support clear and consistent communication regarding expectations, initiatives, and program updates
