To thrive as a Restaurant Server with no experience, you need strong customer service abilities, basic math skills, and a willingness to learn on the job, with most positions requiring only a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems is often taught during training and is essential for processing orders and payments efficiently. Asking questions, taking clear notes, and observing how seasoned servers interact with guests are great ways to quickly build confidence. Most restaurants offer on-the-job training, so maintaining a positive attitude and showing willingness to learn will help you succeed.
