Yes, we have 60 miles of beautiful beaches along the Atlantic Ocean. But the area also has 1,900 restaurants, over 80 golf courses and the amenities you won't find elsewhere. WBTW serves eight northeastern South Carolina counties and two counties in North Carolina. WBTW is the market news leader and is consistently recognized for its highly accomplished news product. With its low cost of living compared to other coastal cities, and a business-friendly environment, Myrtle Beach is an attractive place to live and work. Applicant must include a video link to on-air work as an anchor and reporter with the application.

The News Anchor serves as the primary presenter of news stories and other content for all platforms in a manner that is clear, engaging, and meaningful to news consumers. This role is a hybrid position that demands a high-level storyteller; in addition to anchoring newscasts, the successful candidate is required to report on major local stories as part of their day-to-day duties.
  • Multimedia Reporting: Beyond studio duties, you will act as a lead field reporter, responsible for identifying and covering "big stories" that impact the community.
  • End-to-End Production: Must be proficient in the full production cycle-shooting, writing, and editing-to deliver polished, high-impact segments.
  • Content Volume: Expected to complete 2 to 3 enterprise or "big story" packages per week for air, in addition to daily anchoring responsibilities.
  • Clear Presentation: Presents news stories and other content for all platforms in a clear and concise manner.
  • Journalistic Integrity: Ensures all content meets Nexstar Media Group standards for integrity and production quality.
  • Digital Engagement: Writes content for the website and interacts with viewers via social media and other eMedia platforms.
  • Team Leadership: Works with team members, including coaching and mentoring junior staff.
  • Urgent Response: Responds to breaking news and other urgent newsroom situations as required.

Requirements & Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written with the ability to ad lib when required.
  • Minimum five years' experience in news reporting or anchoring. (More or less depending on market size.)
  • Superior on-air presence.
  • Excellent news judgment with an expansive knowledge of local and national current events, history, newsmakers and issues.
  • Experience guiding, directing and motivating others.
  • Ability to identify the developmental needs of others and to coach, mentor or otherwise help others to improve their knowledge or skills.
  • Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to effectively listen to fully understand problems and communicate with a team to shape a solution.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Flexibility to work any shift.
