About the job
CAD Designer I creates and provides detailed commercial kitchen drawings, plans, schematics, and/or models based on customer expectations, Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) requirements, and local codes in coordination with external consultants, and external and internal sales teams. Continues familiarity and knowledge of a variety of concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Your tasks
  • Prepares scale remodel and new construction kitchen proposal drawings, documentation, 3d models, and 2D plans for review by customer for operational consideration.
  • Prepares scale existing condition (as-built) drawings, documentation, 3D models and 2D plans by converting data collected on-site by advanced site capturing methods including but not limited to: laser scanning, point clouds, asset data information, photos, and floor plan sketches.
  • Plots drawings for internal and external project consultants, team members, owners, and stakeholders
  • Maintains strict CAD drawing standards
  • Logs drawings and database entries as required.
  • Participates in team discussions to ensure team alignment and group consensus on SOP's and WI's.
  • Coordinates kitchen layouts with external consultants of all trades and other areas of expertise
  • May work with local municipalities to ensure drawings meet local codes when necessary
  • Coordinates projects with external and internal project teams to ensure drawings are completed on schedule and per customer's requirements.
  • Interacts frequently with internal and external customers throughout the design and development process.
  • Maintains existing relationships, and promotes new relationships with internal and external customers, consultants, installers, contractors, and AHJ.
  • Acts as technical liaison of equipment, layouts, and operations for external contractors, architects, installers and AHJ.
  • May participate in the development and maintenance of department SOPs and WIs
  • May participate in development and maintenance of symbol libraries and drawing templates for all accounts in all drawing platforms as required.
  • Reliable attendance is required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • General Office Computer and Software Skills:

  • Design Software Environment Skills:
    • Required intermediate level of knowledge or greater of CAD design software, including but not limited to: AutoCAD, Revit
    • Basic level of knowledge or greater of laser scanning, point cloud registration, processing, exporting and the associated hardware and software, preferred
    • Basic level of knowledge or greater of CAD designer software including but not limited to: Vault, 3dsMax, Dynamo, AutoLISP, Inventor, Bluebeam, Vray, preferred
  • Basic Design: Ability to read and understand blueprints, specification sheets, and technical documents related to product information. Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of technical plans, blueprints, 2D and 3D drawings and 3D models
  • Basic Utility Design- Basic knowledge of utility requirements of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, gas, and other building systems in domestic and international configurations.
  • Intermediate Project Management: Intermediate ability to manage multiple projects of various scope, budget, schedule, and size at a time. Communication and coordination with various teams to ensure projects remain on task in a fast-paced environment within predefined company parameters.
  • Basic Engineering and Technology - Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
  • Basic Communication Skills- Ability to communicate and understand customer and sales team requirements with clarity and efficiency. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to demonstrate a high level of confidence with the customer base. Maintain honest and ethical methods.
  • Intermediate Language Skills - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups.
  • Advanced Mathematical Skills - Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Intermediate Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Does not supervise staff.

Education and/or Experience
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Minimum 1 year AutoCAD work experience or AutoCAD certification 2016 or greater.
  • Minimum 1 year Revit work experience or Revit certification 2016 or greater.
  • Minimum 1 year prior related work experience in the food service industry preferred.
  • Prior work experience and/or certification in point clouds and laser scanning preferred
  • Prior work experience and/or certification in Autodesk Vault and Inventor preferred.
