Looking for a job that makes a difference in the lives of local families?LSI currently seeks part-time (up to 29 hrs/week) Respite Providers to provide respite care services in Des Moines and surrounding areas. (Polk & Dallas counties.) The purpose of respite care is to give the parent or primary caregiver a break from the daily responsibilities of caring for a child or adult with a disability.Flexible hours! You set your own schedule working directly with families and can work from home after initial trainings. Will need to be available for some evenings, weekends and hours that family would like to use respite. This position is great for college students, builds experience, and it is great for someone looking to give back or have a little extra supplemental income. Consistent communication required. DUTIESIf you are a great communicator, appreciate setting your own schedule, and are passionate in serving others, being a Respite Provider may be for you. You will be providing a break for the parent or guardian of an individual a disability. You may provide Respite a few hours in the evening up to a full weekend. Your schedule will be dependent upon the family's need and your desire to serve. If you are a person that is able to communicate with others, regardless of the other person's communication skills, this may be your opportunity to help a family in need of a break from 24/7 care and supervision of their loved one.QUALIFICATIONSQualified applicants will have a high school diploma or GED. Experience working with people with disabilities preferred, but not required.
