Resourcing Edge information

What is Resourcing Edge?

Resourcing Edge is a professional employer organization (PEO) that provides businesses with comprehensive HR solutions, including payroll, employee benefits, risk management, and compliance services. By partnering with Resourcing Edge, companies can outsource complex human resources tasks, allowing them to focus on their core business objectives. The company leverages its expertise to help businesses streamline operations, manage regulatory requirements, and improve employee satisfaction. This partnership can be especially beneficial for small to midsize companies looking to offer competitive benefits and reduce administrative burdens.

What are some common challenges faced by employees working at a professional employer organization (PEO) like Resourcing Edge?

Employees at a PEO such as Resourcing Edge often manage HR functions for multiple client companies simultaneously, which can present challenges like balancing diverse client expectations and navigating varying employment laws across different states. Adaptability and strong communication skills are essential, as the role involves frequent collaboration with both internal teams and external client representatives. Staying updated on regulatory changes and efficiently managing high-volume tasks are also crucial components of the job. However, these challenges provide valuable experience in HR compliance, client relations, and multi-tasking, all of which can contribute to significant professional growth.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Human Resources Specialist at Resourcing Edge, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Human Resources Specialist, you need a solid understanding of employment laws, talent acquisition, and HR best practices, usually supported by a relevant degree or certification such as SHRM-CP or PHR. Familiarity with HRIS systems, applicant tracking software, and payroll platforms is typically required. Outstanding interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities help build strong employee relationships and manage sensitive situations effectively. These skills ensure compliance, efficient HR operations, and a positive workplace environment that supports both organizational and employee needs.

Job description

WHAT MAKES THIS ROLE WORTH YOUR ATTENTION

You won't be a cog in a machine here. Northern Nevada Homes is a closely held construction and real estate development company in the Reno/Sparks market: land development, lot delivery, and multi-entity ownership structures. The person who walks into this role will own accounting across approximately 15 entities, work directly alongside the President and COO, and have a rare opportunity to modernize the financial infrastructure of a stable, growing company.

This isn't a role where someone tells you what to do every morning. You'll bring the expertise, set the pace, and lead the charge, including a planned transition from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online and the implementation of AI-driven AP automation. If you've been looking for a role where your fingerprints are on everything, this is it.

THE TEAM YOU ARE JOINING

Northern Nevada Homes is a small, tight-knit operation. You'll have the independence to run your function while staying closely connected to the decisions that drive the business. The pace is entrepreneurial, things can move fast and occasionally unpredictably, but if you thrive in that kind of environment, this team will respect your expertise and trust your judgment.

You’ll be onboarded and trained by the outgoing CPA who has supported Northern Nevada Homes for seven years. She is committed to a thorough transition and will remain available for questions. You're not walking in cold.

WHAT YOU WILL ACTUALLY BE DOING
  • Running the full accounting function across multiple entities: AP, GL, bank and credit card reconciliations, month-end close, and financial statement preparation
  • Submitting monthly bank draw requests and managing lender documentation for an active project delivering phases through 2028
  • Preparing cash flow projections and monitoring liquidity across all entities, with direct reporting to ownership
  • Managing insurance renewals, bonding requirements, certificates of insurance, and property tax payments across a substantial real estate portfolio
  • Coordinating payroll with a third-party provider for a small team
  • Serving as the internal expert for financial statements reviewed by banks, insurance companies, and bonding companies. You own the numbers and must be able to defend them.
  • Leading the transition to QuickBooks Online and implementing AP automation to increase efficiency and reduce manual input
  • Performing notary services for company documents (active commission required or obtainable within 90 days)
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Compensation is competitive and based on experience and qualifications. We're open to the conversation.

Paid time off and paid holidays

Stable, long-term opportunity with a growing company
Flexible hours with a consistent Monday-Friday schedule

Please note: a formal group benefits package (medical, dental, vision) and 401(k) are not in place. We believe the right candidate will find meaningful trade-offs, including competitive base pay, real ownership of the accounting function, a tight-knit team, and an environment where your work directly impacts the business.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 4+ years of full-cycle accounting experience (AP, GL, month-end close)
  • Balance sheet mastery; you understand financial statements, not just P&L
  • Multi-entity accounting experience
  • QuickBooks Desktop proficiency
  • Construction, real estate, or job-cost environment background
  • Familiarity with bank draw requests, lien waivers, insurance certificates, and bonding documentation
  • Cash flow projection and cash management experience
  • Tech-forward mindset, comfortable with AI tools and eager to improve processes
  • Active Notary Public commission or willingness to obtain within 90 days
  • Strong, independent work ethic; you own your role and don't wait to be managed
  • Calm, professional communication style, especially when ownership is moving fast
Big Plusses (not required, but will move you to the top of the list):
  • Public accounting background, especially with construction or real estate clients
  • Tax awareness or experience alongside a CPA/tax firm
  • QuickBooks Online experience
  • Real estate development knowledge
  • CPA license
