The Opportunity

Commercial Development Manager is responsible for driving commercial launch readiness, successfully bringing new product offerings, product enhancements, and services to the market. This role is a hands-on position and will work with various levels of management and departments through the enterprise commercial organization, business units, and various technical and operational teams.

The Commercial Development Manager leads commercial workstream(s) in managing deliverables that correspond to robust sales, marketing, and market access strategy and tactical readiness for a successful launch. Their focus is to ensure that the key elements of the commercial development process are robust and delivered on time. This includes leading commercial launch readiness review process(es), in coordination with the product development process. This role will work quickly to understand interdependencies, develop and communicate plans, prioritize appropriately, rally cross-functional teams to be united on key objectives, escalate risks and mitigations, and problem-solve collaboratively in a dynamic and matrixed organization. The Commercial Development Manager will also provide post-launch support to ensure successful transition from launch readiness into steady-state commercial execution.

Essential Duties
Lead commercial launch readiness workstream(s) to ensure comprehensive commercial launch planning and timely execution.
Design and deploy an effective structure for commercial launch planning, based on the scope of the product/service offering, resources available, and timeline.
Facilitate productive, cross-functional meetings with clear agendas and action items.
Provide a clear summary of decisions, issues, and actions to ensure key stakeholders are appropriately informed and can act accordingly.
Develop, track, and report against detailed project timelines/work plans, schedules, status reports, resource plans, budgets, and status reports.
Serve as a member of the product core team to advance commercial launch readiness and report on progress, risks, and mitigations.

Apply a robust process for commercial launch planning of new products, product enhancements, and services; seek to understand and advocate for adaptations or deviations that may be needed to support a particular launch; develop alternative approaches for execution, and communicate rationale.
Identify opportunities to standardize commercial launch planning approaches across products and services to drive efficiency and consistency.
Partner with project managers and cross-functional team members to ensure clarity of objectives, deliverables, timelines, action items, and interdependencies.
Coordinate with external partners or vendors as needed to support commercial launch readiness deliverables.
Identify appropriate owners, deliverables and milestones within the commercial strategic and tactical plan that supports the product and portfolio strategy; ensure clear expectations by owner.
Drive positive change management that builds the commercial launch planning team's organizational capabilities via guidance, planning, communications, and relationship management.
Navigate across disciplines and integrate technical and business considerations as they impact project plans; includes negotiation of scope, roles and responsibilities, specifications, timelines, and resources up, across, and down the organization.
Apply sound business judgment to prioritize work, resolve trade-offs, and recommend solutions aligned to commercial and enterprise objectives.
Establish and foster strong teamwork partnerships within the commercial launch readiness workstream and within the enterprise-wide commercial organization.
Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to provide clear, informative, and timely information to cross-functional project teams.
Motivate and lead teams of cross-functional and external resources in a matrixed organization with competing priorities, with or without direct authority or reporting relationships; communicate effectively with senior leaders, peers, direct reports, and external partners.

Support and comply with the company's Quality Management System policies and procedures.
Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
Ability to act with an inclusion mindset and model these behaviors for the organization.
Ability to travel 25% of working time away from work location; may include overnight/weekend travel.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering, Life Sciences, Clinical Laboratory Science, Management Information Systems, or field as outlined in the essential duties.

  • 6+ years of cross-functional management experience with demonstrated record of accomplishment and delivering results.

  • 6+ years of experience leading experienced, complex teams or projects in a health care, life sciences, pharma, or medical device company.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in implementing multiple operational and/or marketing projects/programs simultaneously.

  • Strong understanding of program and project management processes, principles, and methodologies.

  • Expert project management software skills; including Smartsheet, Miro, and Microsoft Office PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.

  • Demonstrated strong, collaborative leadership - able to influence without authority, manage complex initiatives with effective planning and coordination, solve problems and resolve conflict diplomatically, build trusted cross-functional relationships, and communicate complex ideas clearly and simply. Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.

  • Master's degree in Business Administration or field related to job duties.

The base pay for this position is

$99,300.00 - $198,700.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
