The Opportunity:

The position, in cooperation with other Units and while also supporting the less senior discipline members, will ensure the execution of engineering project assigned in complete compliance with best practices, quality, safety and environmental requirements, as well as compliance with schedules and costs, also managing external resources. Addresses and solves technical issues related to own field of expertise and by means of own knowledge in order to meet project requirements.

What You'll Do at Enel North America:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Act as the technical interface with the interconnecting TSPs and ISOs for project specific matters, during development and execution phases.
  • Provide technical support to Business Development in interconnections, feasibility studies, costs, etc. for proposed projects and assist in filing grid connection applications.
  • Provide guidance on the technical aspects of grid interconnection for renewable power plants for the following project phases: development, design, construction, commissioning up to the commercial operation;
  • Provide technical support to Energy Management for PPA management and NERC compliance team for NERC compliance related items.
  • Oversee external contract engineering for grid connection issues and provide technical support for interconnection issues of the plants under construction until COD.
  • Analysis/provide the grid electric study required by ISO (Independent System Operator) and Transmission Owner.
  • Lead technical relationship with generators supplier for grid compliance items. Simulation of renewable power plant generator and Transmission/Distribution grid.
  • Coordinate all engineering requirements with Interconnecting Power Utility(s)
  • Supply/verification of documentation required by ISO for request of connection, authorization of connection and operation & maintenance. (Connection Agreement, Operation Agreement, Power Purchase Agreement)
  • Verifies and provide technical solutions for the ancillary service and grid regulation required by Transmission Owner
  • Monitoring of Grid Code/Regulatory norms and the impact of technical changes
  • Lead and coordinate engineering design reviews with engineering consulting companies, contractors and subcontractors and ISO and Transmission Owner. Review and/or answer Requests for Information.
  • Assesses actual grid capacity in a region by reviewing and verifying technical studies performed by transmission providers
  • Lead and assesses grid study for BD phase and construction phase
  • Coach and mentor less senior member of the Grid Connection Engineering team in performing their essential job functions.

What You've Accomplished:

  • BS Electrical Engineering.
  • Master's Degree in Power Systems is preferred.
  • 7-10 years of engineering background with 5 years' in utility scale electrical power systems.
  • 2+ year of experience in grid interconnection integration of power producer resources in transmission level systems
  • Fluent English is required.
  • Knowledgeable in power systems engineering in distribution, transmission, substations and generation.
  • Familiarity with ISO and Transmission Owner structure in USA
  • Knowledgeable of technical requirements of ISO and Transmission Owner
  • Knowledge of Grid Interconnections Agreements
  • Experienced in overall Electrical Power System engineering
  • Experience in interconnection application
  • Ability to coordinate all interface electrical and SCADA design with interconnecting Power Utility
  • Knowledgeable of Grid Interconnection Studies; System Impact, Facilities, Fault, Loss, Relay Coordination, and others
  • Knowledgeable of software for power system simulations (DigSILENT, ETAP, NEPLAN, etc.)
  • Familiarity with NERC/FERC reliability standards, NEC, NESC IEEE and ANSI Engineering Standards

The pay range for this position is $112,000.00 to $167,000.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will be based on several factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, work experience, education, and internal equity.
