Job description

Directs and coordinates activities of multiple facilities and LOB’s to obtain optimum efficiency and economy of operations and maximize profits by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.  Also responsible for the performance of the facility’s sales force. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the distribution centers of the area.
  • Leads a market in district sales and production.  Responsible for the overall sales (professional and retail), operations, production, delivery, purchasing, install and inventory control of the locations. 
  • Ensures that daily operations of each location are being appropriately and effectively managed by the Market or General Manager.
  • Oversees the development and implementation of the purchasing and inventory control programs to meet inventory levels and turns.  Directs and coordinates promotion of products manufactured or services performed to develop new markets, increase share of market, and obtain competitive position in industry.
  • Motivates employees, maintains a productive workforce and trains successor management. 
  • Recommends capital improvements in view of forecasted demand for various products, efficiency of current equipment, etc.  Institutes a cost-effective vehicle and equipment maintenance program. 
  • Supports and reinforces company safety initiatives to ensure all OSHA and DOT requirements are adhered to.
  • Communicates and enforces company policies and procedures to Market and General Managers as they pertain to the daily functions of all departments. 
  • Responsible for budget accountability and reporting as it pertains to the financial goals of the company.  Works to establish standard cost, operating budgets, and acceptable inventory levels.  Monitors expenses and creates new methods to improve each location's financial performance.
  • Represents and promotes the Company at industry, manufacturing, or trade associations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Manages subordinate supervisors who supervise in various departments. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; seven to ten years related managerial experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Must have prior experience in building materials industry.
