THE POSITION
Do you want to help individuals strengthen everyday skills as a Residential Services Aide for the Department of Human Services? This position lets you guide people through training that supports self-care and social growth at Ebensburg Center. You will contribute to a caring atmosphere where each person can progress at their own pace. Your dedication will support a comfortable, stable, and engaging living community.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This role focuses on delivering treatment and training services that support self-care, socialization, and daily living skills for individuals in residential units. As a Residential Services Aide, you will perform the following duties:
  • Plan Support: Assist with developing portions of support plans to provide accurate information about each individual
  • Implement Training: Conduct assigned training plans to support active treatment and daily skill development
  • Record Progress: Document training results and communicate updates to maintain effective services
  • Team Communication: Share essential information with interdisciplinary team members to support coordinated care
  • Enhance Environment: Help select, place, and manage personal items and furnishings to maintain a therapeutic setting
  • Uphold Standards: Advocate for individual rights and follow all policies, procedures, and reporting requirements

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are 2nd shift (2:45 PM to 11:15 PM), with a 30-minute lunch. Your schedule may change based on operational needs.
  • Travel: As needed
  • Overtime: May be required
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Successful completion of the Aide Trainee program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Six months of paid experience in the care, activities, and personal guidance of individuals with intellectual disabilities.
Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
