Resident Program Assistants (RPAs) are student staff members who support residential life in college or university housing. They help create a positive living environment by organizing events, assisting with conflict resolution, and serving as a resource for residents. RPAs often work closely with Resident Advisors and housing staff to ensure students have a safe and supportive community. To thrive as a Resident Program Assistant, you generally need strong organizational skills, knowledge of residential life policies, and at least a high school diploma or equivalent, with some roles preferring college coursework or experience in student affairs. Familiarity with scheduling software, incident reporting systems, and communication tools is often required.
