Description:

Position Summary

The Project Manager provides project management oversight on transportation projects with a team of engineers. The Project Manager acts as a project lead with complete responsibility for design and/or construction of transportation and municipal engineering projects including coordination, certification, management and client relations for government clients including the Indiana Department of Transportation, Indianapolis DPW, and various cities and counties. Responsible for productivity of project team and ensures projects are on time and on budget. Mentors and develops less experienced engineers and/or technical support and assists in developing a solid team.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Design budgets, schedules, plans and specifications, manage project communications and documentation

• Supervise, motivate and develop staff including junior staff in project management practices

• Coordinate and review assigned projects, and those of the project team, for completeness and accuracy

• Perform technical discipline tasks including research, reports, design, specification and plan preparation to ensure the most efficient and cost-effective execution of assigned projects

• Serve as the primary client liaison to bring the schedule, budgets and scope of work to completion and to the client’s satisfaction

• Provide engineering design and supervision for a variety of highway design projects including, but not limited to: roadway reconstruction and overlay, bridge approaches, storm sewers, sidewalks, ADA ramps, guardrail, pavement marking and signing, and asset management projects

• Oversee and perform engineering designs including geometric alignments, profiles, cross sections, construction and engineering documents, and maintenance of traffic details.

• Familiarity of AutoCadd and MicroStation processes

• Perform internal quality control to ensure designs, plans and calculations are complete and accurate through all phases of design and plan production.

• Assist Director in a variety of project administrative duties.

• Participate in business development activities, assisting in the creation of letters of response and technical proposals/presentations

• Serve as technical expert on task/project on key transportation projects.

• Deliver quality transportation projects on-time, within budget and to the satisfaction of the client for projects assigned as Project Manager.


Requirements:

Education and/or Experience


• A bachelor of science degree in civil engineering or civil and environmental engineering

• A minimum of 10-14 years of experience serving clients on a wide variety of transportation projects, including INDOT
