Job description

SUMMARY Under supervision of the Director/Research Center Manager of the Center for Behavioral and Preventive Medicine (CBPM), the Research Program Manager provides administrative leadership and operational oversight for the Stress Trauma and Resilience (STAR) COBRE Program, the Stress, Trauma, and Resilience (STAR) T32 Program, the CBPM Training and Mentorship Programs, and general CBPM Program Management. RESPONSIBILITIES In collaboration with the Director/Manager, the Research Program Manager provides leadership through the administration, execution, and continued active development of the STAR COBRE, the STAR T32, CBPM Training and Mentorship, and other CBPM Programs. The position has direct responsibility for day-to-day management of all administrative and operational aspects of these programs, including research administration, compliance, tracking and reporting, and program execution.

The Research Program Manager works closely with the Center Director/Manager to successfully implement current and future STAR and CBPM Programs. The Research Program Manager works closely with the Center Director/Manager as a key member of the CBPM administrative operations team. Oversee all Program level administrative and operational aspects of the STAR COBRE.

Serve as the primary liaison with the Brown University Health Office of Research (Grants and Contracts and Research Protections) personnel for all STAR COBRE matters. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of NIH guidelines and reporting requirements and oversee and ensure compliance with NIH special terms and conditions for all projects, including NIH-defined Clinical Trials. Lead all elements of the annual Progress Report preparation and submission to NIGMS to ensure timely and complete reporting into eRA Commons, ASSIST, SIRS, and other required systems.

Assist in the financial planning process, the development of accurate financial projections, and management of STAR COBRE budgets. Ensure the STAR COBRE consistently meets programmatic milestones and objectives according to established timelines. Work closely with the Director and STAR COBRE leadership to establish measurement frameworks for program metrics.

Develop effective processes for collecting, storing, and reporting these data. Launch and maintain the STAR Pilot Project Program Plan, coordinate, document, and ensure action item follow-through for meetings, including but not limited to the Executive Committee, Internal Advisory Committee, External Advisory Committee, and Community Advisory Board. Provide coordination and support for faculty recruitment.

Oversee STAR T32 Fellowship Program Manage and administer the STAR T32 Fellowship grant. Manage day-to-day administrative operations of the STAR T32 fellowship program (i.e., onboarding, NIH reporting). Oversee and coordinate seminars and training activities for STAR T32 fellows

Develop, maintain, and refine Standard Operating Procedures for the STAR T32 Program. Assure Mentorship programs are running efficiently and serving the needs of STAR T32 fellows. Ensure diversity, equity, and inclusion are weaved into all STAR T32 mentorship activities.

Oversee all CBPM Training and Mentorship Programs Manage Center-specific training activities for CBPM interns and postdoctoral fellows. Serve as the primary point of contact for all CBPM Trainees. Develop, maintain, and refine Standard Operating Procedures for all CBPM Training and Mentorship Programs.

Assure Mentorship programs are running efficiently and serving the needs of Trainees. Ensure diversity, equity, and inclusion are weaved into all mentorship activities. Responsible for general CBPM Research Program Management and Administration Work with CBPM faculty to provide training and coordination to support timely submission of external grants.

Oversee and monitor CBPM research program compliance with Hospital and LOR policies. Manage the planning, coordination, and execution of CBPM meetings, events, and initiatives. Work with the CBPM Director/Manager to develop and build communication channels (website, newsletters, social media).

Perform other duties, special projects, and reports as assigned by the Director/Manager. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS BASIC KNOWLEDGE Advanced knowledge of financial and business management as it relates to research. Ability to quickly learn and adapt to accommodate priorities and initiatives.

Ability to act as an agent who drives action and productivity. Fluency using and understanding data to inform decision making. Ability to promote a culturally and ethnically diverse environment.

EXPERIENCE Master's degree or equivalent experience. 5+ years of business or administrative experience. Solid administrative, financial, and supervisory experience in grant-funded research is required.

Intermediate computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and comfort with databases. Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail. Outstanding problem-solving, planning, and management skills with experience in organizing systems and people.

Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, including verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work with a variety of people and organizations in a collegial way. WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Able to function in an office and virtual environment.

Requires walking, navigation of stairs, and standing intermittently throughout the day. Sufficient visual acuity and manual dexterity to use computer and other common equipment. INDEPENDENT ACTION Performs independently within the Department's policies and practices.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY Directly supervise 2-5 members of the STAR/CBPM teams. Indirectly oversee and coordinate the activities of 20-25 STAR/CBPM team members including staff, faculty, and trainees.
