Job description

Duties include:
• Preparation/propagation/harvesting of plant material, such as filling pots with soil, sieving soil, seeding, transplanting, propagating, and harvesting seeds or other plant parts as required.
• Daily watering, fertilizing, pruning/trimming will be required as well as pest maintenance of plants as needed to ensure research quality data is generated from trials.
• Keeping a clean, neat and tidy greenhouse, potting room, and lab such as sweeping, washing dishes, shop vacuum.
• Support all greenhouse, laboratory and any outdoor trials either alone or under supervision.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:
- Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Agriculture, Weed Science, Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Science or other Agricultural/Plant Science discipline or Minimal a high school diploma with 2 years Greenhouse/plant care work experience.
- Prefered Skills or experience in growing and maintaining a healthy variety of plants, mainly corn, cotton, soybean, rice, wheat and occasional perennial crops as well as weed species for research purposes in both soil and soil-less mixes. Experience with conducting greenhouse, laboratory and field trials is a plus.
• Prefered experience in pesticide application and greenhouse plant rearing are strongly desired.
• Must have ability to keep accurate records and follow research protocols as instructed.
• Self-motivator, thinks ahead and completes tasks without being instructed, able to work with minimal supervision.
• Must have good abilities to communicate with others and be able to work both independently and in teams.
• Need to be able to lift 50 lbs. and be willing to work in hot, humid or cool, damp conditions as required for greenhouse or field activities.
