Beveridge & Diamond (B&D) seeks a Business Development Manager to lead the business development efforts of our Texas, San Francisco, and Seattle offices and key firmwide practice and industry groups (including Air, Climate Change, ESG & Sustainability, Tech and Data Centers, and Products). Familiarity with the Texas legal market, in particular, and the referenced practice groups, or the ability to learn quickly; strong writing skills; strategic thinking; initiative; and a proven ability to lead projects independently and collaborate effectively with lawyers across the firm are essential for success. This role is based in our Austin, TX office with minimum semi-annual travel expected to our San Francisco and Seattle offices, as well as periodic travel to our Washington, DC office and potentially other locations. 


Responsibilities

Office Support - Serve as the lead marketing contact for our Austin, San Francisco, and Seattle offices, working to develop, track, and advance office business development plans and goals. Responsibilities include:

  • Work with each office's managing principal to develop and advance the office's business development plan and support the plans of individual lawyers in the office. 
  • Track the office's marketing budget. 
  • Facilitate regular meetings with attorneys in each assigned office focused on business development and marketing initiatives.
  • Oversee key association engagement by the office and lawyers affiliated with it.
  • Oversee events initiated by the office with support from our Events Coordinator. 

Firmwide Practice and Industry Group Support - Work with the leaders of assigned practice and industry groups to develop, track, and advance group business development plans and goals and facilitate engagement by group members. This includes leading the marketing and business development initiatives of our Air, Climate Change, ESG & Sustainability, Tech and Data Centers, and Products groups, and others. Responsibilities include:

  • Lead RFP responses and pitch meeting preparation and track outcomes.
  • Attend practice and industry group meetings to provide strategic guidance and make connections with other firm initiatives.
  • Provide strategic guidance on group initiatives (including events, sponsorships, new service offerings, and rankings) and collaborate with other Marketing Department members execution.
  • Work with our Communications team to produce and maintain the group's written/digital promotional materials.
  • Oversee key association engagement and sponsorship deliverables.
  • Coordinate market research, trendspotting, and competitor analysis to spot opportunities for short- and long-term growth. 


Other Areas of Support - Due to the ever-changing needs of our practice and our department, other potential responsibilities could include supporting regional business development initiatives, lawyer coaching, and assisting with projects related to the implementation of the firm's Strategic Plan. 


Requirements

  • At least 5+ years of law firm business development experience.
  • Knowledge of the Texas legal market.
  • Familiarity with environmental law or the ability to learn quickly.
  • Experience leading RFP responses.
  • Strategic thinking.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication.
  • Initiative, responsiveness, follow-through, and strong project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively, to advance and execute projects.
  • Ability to form effective working relationships/rapport with lawyers and staff firmwide.
  • Fluency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • College degree or equivalent.

Preferred

  • Knowledge of the West Coast legal market.
  • Experience with InterAction. 
  • Familiarity with experience management platforms. 

Work Environment

Hybrid model with a minimum of three in-office days per week. Minimum semi-annual travel required to San Francisco and Seattle for meetings and events, as well as periodic travel to our Washington, DC office and potentially other locations.


Compensation

In accordance with applicable pay transparency laws, the base salary range for this position is $140,000 to $175,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience. The compensation for this position may also include discretionary performance and productivity bonuses.
