Job description

We are seeking a full-time General Physiatrist to join our Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation team, working in both inpatient and outpatient settings (currently split evenly, but room for flexibility in how time is dedicated). 

In the inpatient setting, you will provide care in our 18-bed acute rehabilitation unit alongside another physiatrist and perform hospital consultations in the intensive care unit and general medical floors within our Level I adult and pediatric trauma center. 

In the outpatient setting, you will treat a broad range of patients with musculoskeletal, spine, and neurological conditions, and amputations, while also providing continuity of care for patients transitioning from acute inpatient rehabilitation.

For candidates interested in the Medical Director opportunity: In addition to clinical responsibilities, there is an opportunity for qualified candidates to serve as Medical Director of Knapp Rehabilitation Center. This leadership role will provide physician oversight and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to support clinical excellence, quality initiatives, program development, and strategic growth of rehabilitation services. Specific responsibilities and protected administrative time will be discussed based on the candidate's interests and experience.

About the Department:

  • Our TBI Outpatient Program became the first organization in the world to be accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) as a Concussion Specialty Program for Adolescents & Adults. 
  • Our Knapp Rehabilitation Center is an inpatient specialty program serving adolescent and adult patients various conditions that includes but not limited to traumatic brain injury, non-traumatic brain injury, stroke, multiple trauma, spinal cord injury, burn, amputation, other neurological conditions. 

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications

  • Comprehensive benefits package, including business expense account, academic leave, and professional liability coverage. 
  • Must possess (or be eligible for) a current unrestricted license to practice Medicine in the State of Minnesota
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. If Board Eligible, must be Board Certified within 4 years from the date of completion of the applicable residency, fellowship or training program
  • Current D.E.A. Certificate or be eligible for certificate
  • Current Life Support Certification or complete course within 2 months of hire

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with patients and families, treatment team members and staff, referring parties and hospital leadership
