Position Summary
The Director of Institutional Research & Data Analytics at Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) is a pivotal leadership role responsible for driving the institution's data strategy, enhancing data governance, and advancing the overall data analytics maturity level. This role involves developing a centralized data analytics and management unit, providing high-quality data services to support academic, business, operations, and research activities. The Director will lead the transformation of MSM's data landscape to improve decision-making processes, operational efficiency, and research outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive data strategy aligned with MSM's mission and goals.
  • Drive the advancement of MSM's data analytics maturity, focusing on data governance, data quality, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Lead the development of a centralized data analytics and management unit to serve various institutional needs.

Data Governance and Management:
  • Oversee the data governance committee and ensure compliance with data management policies and best practices.
  • Establish and maintain data standards, data quality metrics, and data stewardship programs.
  • Develop and implement a robust data governance framework to ensure the integrity, security, and privacy of institutional data.

Data Analytics and Reporting:
  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of advanced data analytics solutions to support institutional goals.
  • Enhance the capability of data analytics tools and platforms to enable self-service analytics and reporting.
  • Collaborate with academic, administrative, and clinical departments to identify data needs and provide actionable insights.

Research Support:
  • Support research initiatives by providing data analytics expertise and developing predictive models.
  • Lead the Honest Broker project, building a process to support research data access while maintaining confidentiality and compliance.
  • Facilitate the integration and analysis of diverse data sources to support research outcomes.

Operational Efficiency:
  • Improve operational efficiency by developing data-driven processes and performance metrics.
  • Conduct surveys and assessments to identify opportunities for operational improvements.
  • Provide data analytics services to support operational and academic decision-making.

Team Leadership and Development:
  • Build and lead a high-performing data analytics team, providing mentorship and professional development opportunities.
  • Foster a culture of data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with IT and other departments to ensure the seamless integration of data systems and solutions.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Applied Econometrics, Data Analytics, Healthcare System Engineering, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in data analytics, data governance, and data management, preferably in an academic or healthcare setting.
  • Proven leadership experience, with the ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives.
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience in predictive modeling, data visualization, and statistical analysis.
