Job Description:
Job Summary
The Department of Philosophy at Purdue University invites applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistant position in Social Ontology.
The selected candidate will join a vibrant community of faculty, staff, graduate and undergraduate students from social science and humanity programs in the College of Liberal Arts at Purdue and will be involved in social ontology research programs led by Christopher Yeomans, Justin S Morrill Dean of Liberal Arts and Associate Professor Javier Gomez-Lavin. This is an fiscal year position (12 months) with a start date of June 1, 2026. The appointment is for one year with the option to renew for a second year.
We are looking for an individual who is enthusiastic about studying the social ontology of economic phenomena including institutions such as banks, markets and firms, as well as joint action and collective intentionality.
Education
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in philosophy, economics, or a related field in social science.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Excellent academic writing ability on quantitative topics.
• Substantive research interests related to social ontology.
