Job description

The R&D Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing the development of new orthopedic products from concept to market launch. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully managing complex projects within the medical device or any other regulated industry, preferably with a PMP certification.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning and Scheduling: Develop and maintain detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, and deliverables. Utilize project management software to track progress and ensure adherence to schedules.

  • Cost and Budget Management: Prepare and manage project budgets, ensuring projects are completed within financial constraints. Monitor expenditures and implement cost-saving measures as necessary.

  • Risk Management: Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies. Conduct regular risk assessments and adjust plans as needed to address emerging issues.

  • Quality Management: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards throughout the product development process. Implement quality control measures to maintain high standards.

  • Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing, and Marketing teams to ensure alignment and successful project execution. Communicate project status and updates to senior management and stakeholders.

  • Resource Management: Allocate resources effectively to meet project objectives. Coordinate with team members and departments to ensure optimal resource utilization.

  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Conduct regular project status meetings and provide comprehensive updates to senior management. Utilize performance metrics to track project progress and identify areas for improvement.

  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the project management process. Implement best practices and lessons learned from previous projects.

  • Team Leadership and Development: Mentor and guide junior project managers and team members. Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering

  • 2 years of engineering experience with a focus on new product development, OR 3 years of PM experience preferably within the medical device industry.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PMP ( Project Management Professional ) certification

  • Strong knowledge of design controls and regulatory requirements for medical devices.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results on time and within budget.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

  • Proficiency in project management software and tools (Smartsheet, MS Project, etc).

Expected Travel 0-20%
