Job description

Overview

The R&D Food Safety Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring the integrity, safety, and compliance of all food-related activities within the Process Development Center. This position supports Research & Development operations by maintaining robust food safety and quality systems, managing compliance programs, and partnering closely with cross functional teams to uphold the highest standards of regulatory and customer expectations.

The coordinator serves as a subject matter expert in food safety programs, preventative controls, and audit readiness. This role requires strong technical knowledge, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast paced, innovation driven environment. The ideal candidate brings hands on experience in food manufacturing, a deep understanding of food safety regulations, and the ability to coach and influence teams at all levels.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain food safety and quality management systems. 
  • Maintain Food Safety Compliance records. 
  • Update policies and procedures to support site Food Safety and Compliance Programs. 
  • Prepare for and participate in 3rd party food safety audits.
  • Manage Internal Audit Programs for site Food Safety Programs. 
  • Manage corrective actions and preventative actions (CAP) for required Food Safety Audits. 
  • Engage with EHS Team - understand Food Safety Agenda and provide periodic site reviews.
  • Manage Food Safety training programs and compliance tracking process. Provide Food Safety Training as needed. 
  • Provide operational support for Research and Development product development teams. 
  • Work effectively in a team environment. 
  • Coach/Mentor site team to ensure complete understanding and execution of Food Safety Programs. 
  • Support Retail, LTO, Trade call, and promotional productions. 
  • Provide administrative support for site as needed. 
  • Initiate ideas and solutions to enhance site compliance programs to drive improved efficiency. 
  • Work with limited supervision to complete both assigned and self-identified tasks. 
  • Manage required compliance programs - Safety, Food Safety, Environment.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • The expected compensation range for this position is between $54,700 - $82,050.
  • Location, confirmed job-related skills, experience, and education will be considered in setting actual starting salary. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range during the hiring process.
  • Paid time off subject to eligibility, including paid parental leave, vacation, sick, and bereavement.

Qualifications
  • Associates degree preferred, 3-5 years experience working in a Food Safety role, preferably in the food manufacturing industry.
  • Strong knowledge of Food Safety Programs - (AIB, FSSC22000, HACCP, FDA, GMPs).
  • Strong understanding of Preventative Controls, food allergen management, environmental monitoring programs.
  • Food Safey Audit experience - internal and 3rd party.
  • Knowledge/Experience with food processing equipment, production, and/or test systems.
  • Strong administrative and computer skills.
