The Category Merchandising Manager - Primos/Hoppe's is responsible for driving the strategic direction, development, and performance of product categories that support the continued growth of two iconic outdoor brands. This role serves as the consumer and market expert, translating insights, trends, competitive intelligence, and business objectives into compelling product assortments that deliver revenue growth, profitability, and long-term brand equity.

This position leads the development and execution of seasonal and annual merchandising strategies, including line planning, product lifecycle management, assortment optimization, pricing, and margin performance. The Category Merchandising Manager partners closely with Product Development, Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Operations, and external partners to bring innovative products to market that meet the evolving needs of outdoor enthusiasts.

Success in this role requires a balance of strategic vision and hands-on execution. The ideal candidate understands consumer behavior, marketplace dynamics, and category trends while possessing the ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive accountability throughout the product development process.

This position reports to the General Manager - Stone Glacier, Camp Chef, Primos & Hoppe's and is based out of our Brookhaven, MI office. A fully remote work opportunity may be considered for a candidate with impeccable expertise and experience aligned explicitly with the role.

As the Category Merchandising Manager - Primos/Hoppe's, you will have an opportunity to:

  • Develop and execute category strategies and seasonal line plans that align with brand objectives, consumer needs, revenue targets, gross margin goals, and market opportunities.

  • Analyze target markets, consumer segments, competitive landscapes, and emerging trends to identify opportunities for new product development and category expansion.

  • Define product positioning, value propositions, and go-to-market strategies in partnership with Sales, Marketing, Product Development, and external experts.

  • Serve as the category subject matter expert, maintaining deep knowledge of Primos and Hoppe's consumers, competitors, marketplace trends, and industry dynamics.

  • Lead product assortment planning and lifecycle management, ensuring the right products are delivered through the appropriate channels at the right time.

  • Partner cross-functionally to execute the Innovation-to-Commercialization (I2C) process, preparing for key stage gates, driving alignment, and ensuring successful product launches.

  • Identify opportunities to innovate across products, processes, tools, and ways of working to improve consumer experiences and business outcomes.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to establish product development objectives, timelines, priorities, and success metrics.

  • Maintain accurate and actionable line plans, product roadmaps, and category documentation while supporting implementation and utilization of product management tools, including PLM and PIM systems.

  • Drive seasonal and annual sales and margin objectives through informed assortment decisions, pricing strategies, product positioning, and portfolio optimization.

  • Monitor category performance, identify opportunities and risks, and recommend strategies to improve business results.

  • Develop and deliver compelling product presentations for internal stakeholders, retailers, sales teams, and key external partners.

  • Gather consumer, retailer, and market insights through research, customer interactions, and field engagement to inform future product strategies.

  • Build strong partnerships across Product, Marketing, Sales, Operations, and Supply Chain to ensure effective execution and alignment.

  • Support development and protection of intellectual property strategies.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.

  • Demonstrate ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement in support of Revelyst's values and business objectives.

You Have:

  • 5+ years of experience in merchandising, product management, product marketing, sales, or related consumer product roles within wholesale, retail, or direct-to-consumer businesses.

  • Experience in the outdoor industry is strongly preferred, with knowledge of the hunting, shooting sports, or outdoor recreation markets considered a plus.

  • Proven experience managing product lines, categories, or assortments for consumer brands.

  • Experience developing and executing product strategies from concept through commercialization.

  • Outdoor industry experience preferred; experience with hunting, shooting, or adjacent outdoor categories strongly valued.

  • Strong understanding of consumer insights, merchandising principles, assortment planning, and product development processes.

  • Experience working across multiple sales channels, including specialty retail, wholesale, eCommerce, and direct-to-consumer environments.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze market data, consumer trends, financial performance, and competitive intelligence to make informed business decisions.

Pay Range:

Annual Salary: $85,000.00 - $95,000.00

The actual annual salary offered to a candidate will be based on variables including experience, geographic location, education, and skills/achievements, and will be mutually agreed upon at the time of offer.
