Job description

Job Title: Equity Research Associate - Immunology

Reports to: Sr. Equity Research Analyst

Department: Equity Research

Location: New York

Salary Range: $110,000-$150,000

This individual will work closely with senior equity research professionals to assist in preparing and executing analyses of therapeutic areas, novel biopharmaceutical products, individual companies, and their securities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong sense of intellectual curiosity, passion for the stock market as well as the ability to be a strong team player in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Formulate in-depth investment recommendations based on fundamental analysis, valuation and risk assessment of a diverse range of companies
  • Collect and rigorously analyze data related to therapeutics and various diseases, including scientific papers, clinical data, and prescription trends
  • Draft market research surveys and synthesize results into targeted insights
  • Interview company executives and medical/industry consultants to develop and maintain sources of information in preparation of analyses
  • Build, update and maintain financial models
  • Leverage scientific and financial mindset in writing research reports and notes on companies for distribution to the Leerink Partners' sales force and institutional clients
  • Answer inquiries from internal firm personnel and external clients
  • Support senior equity research professionals by attending events of special interest


Experience and Qualifications Required:

  • Prior business experience preferred, ideally some experience in one or more of the following: sell side research, consulting experience at a leading consulting firm; or industry business development experience at a leading pharmaceutical or biotechnology firm
  • Academic background a plus: MD, PhD, or PharmD
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to search, understand and distill complex scientific and medical publications into succinct insights for biotech investors
  • Familiarity and knowledge of the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries including clinical development, regulatory affairs, business development and commercialization
  • Strong quantitative, financial modeling, forecasting and Excel skills
  • General understanding of statistical analysis techniques
