Substitute Positions Available

The Bartow County School System is currently taking applications for individuals wishing to become a substitute for the 2026-2027 school year. FSA subs will need to apply on the Cafeteria Assistant application.

If you are interested in being a substitute – See instructions for signing up below:

We have an open invitation each Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m. for applications and background checks to be eligible to sub for our school system. Central Office address: 65 Gilreath Road, Cartersville 30121.

Apply online here, but there is additional paperwork (SUBPACKETSCHOOLPREF.pdf) to be completed, as well as turning in the documentation below.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • You must be 21 years old.
  • For classroom substitutes ONLY – you are required to complete the Substitute Teacher Training course, sponsored by Northwest Georgia RESA. Please visit their website, www.nwgaresa.com and search their Course Catalog for this class. Registration and payment for the course is handled through NWGA RESA. A certificate of completion is necessary for your substitute application. If you are retired Georgia educator OR have a valid GA teaching certificate, you are exempt from taking this course.

You must have the following documentation with you when you arrive - NO EXCEPTIONS:

  • Drivers' License
  • Social Security Card, Birth Certificate or Passport
  • Substitute Teacher Training Certificate
  • Copy of Teaching Certificate (if you are a certified teacher)
  • Copy of highest diploma/transcripts (High School or College) or GED
  • NOTE: The cost of processing fingerprints is $52.00 MONEY ORDER (no cash or personal checks) Make payable to the BCBOE. Money orders can be purchased at most gas stations, all post offices, and the big box grocery stores.
  • Voided Check OR Direct Deposit letter from bank for payroll direct deposit

Teacher Substitutes: $100/day for those applicants with a high school diploma/GED $115/day for those with a 4 year college degree or higher Paraprofessional Substitutes: $100/day, regardless of teacher sub rate Nurse Substitutes: $18/hour Custodian Substitutes: $13/hour SNP Substitutes: $12/hour
