Claremont, CA
Full Time - 8hr Shifts
$22-26/hr DOE
Claremont Hacienda, Generations Healthcare newest MHRC facility, is in search of Mental Health Workers to join our team.
Position Overview:
The Mental Health Worker (MHW) provides direct care, supervision, and support to clients in the Mental Health Rehabilitation Center (MHRC), ensuring their safety and participation in therapeutic programs. The MHW contributes to the implementation of client care plans, monitors client progress, and supports daily living activities, adhering to the standards outlined in Title 9 of the California Code of Regulations.
Responsibilities:
  • Escort clients timely to groups and record participation ensuring that groups maintain a 1:6 ratio.
  • Facilitate groups and activities as assigned.
  • Lead MHW discussions as assigned.
  • Lead community meeting daily.
  • Provide direct assistance with daily living activities and maintenance of personal space including hygiene, nutrition, and personal care, as outlined in the client's treatment plan.
  • Implement behavioral interventions, utilizing techniques such as positive reinforcement, de-escalation strategies, and motivational therapy.
  • Encourage client attendance to groups and participation.
  • Ensure and assist clients to complete forms properly and timely.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client activities, involvement in program activities, incidents, and progress in accordance with Title 9 requirements. Collect, total and submit tracking records to supervisory staff weekly.
  • Reports any behavioral, emotional, or psychological changes in the clients to charge nurse or clinical team immediately.
  • Assist in the preparation of written progress notes and reports, contributing to interdisciplinary team (IDT) meetings and care plan updates.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, families, and other staff members, using interpretive or assistive devices as needed to address individual client needs.
  • Report unusual occurrences, changes in client behavior, or safety concerns promptly to supervisory staff.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework in psychology, social work, or a related field preferred.
  • 2 years of full-time experience (or part-time equivalent) working in a mental health program or a Bachelors Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or Behavioral Sciences
  • Willingness to participate in mandated facility orientation and ongoing educational programs.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
  • Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents.
