This is a hybrid position working 3 days per week in our Alpharetta, GA office.

Position Overview

We are seeking a mid-level Report Developer to join our analytics/reporting team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, enhancing, and troubleshooting reports and dashboards (PowerBI); analyzing and optimizing complex queries; and helping translate business requirements into clear, actionable reporting solutions. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and effective collaboration with both technical and business stakeholders.

What the day will look like

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain reports and dashboards using enterprise reporting tools (Power BI).
  • Write, review, and optimize SQL queries and other data retrieval logic for performance and accuracy.
  • Analyze large and complex data sets to validate results and ensure data quality.
  • Reverse-engineer existing reports and logic to understand current calculations, metrics, and data flows.
  • Fine-tune report and query performance, including indexing strategies, query refactoring, and dataset optimization.
  • Collaborate with business partners, analysts, and technical teams to clarify requirements and deliver well-structured reporting solutions.
  • Create and maintain clear documentation for report logic, data sources, and business rules.
  • Prepare and deliver PowerPoint presentations to summarize findings, explain report logic, and present insights to stakeholders.
  • Take ownership and accountability for assigned tasks, including timelines, quality, and follow-through on issues.
  • Participate in code reviews, peer reviews, and knowledge-sharing sessions within the team.

Skills and experience that will lead to success:

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a Report Developer (PBI), BI Developer, or similar role (mid-level).
  • Strong proficiency in SQL (writing, reviewing, and optimizing complex queries).
  • Experience working with large data sets and relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to reverse-engineer existing reports and replicate or improve underlying logic.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and data quality.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team, as well as independently.
  • Strong sense of accountability and ownership for deliverables.
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint for presenting findings, report designs, and recommendations.
  • Experience producing clear, structured documentation for technical and business audiences.

Preferred Qualifications (Optional)

  • Experience with specific reporting/BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, SSRS, Cognos, etc.).
  • Familiarity with version control and SDLC processes.
  • Exposure to data warehousing or ETL concepts.

Pay Transparency Laws:

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $60,000 to $65,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.  The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant’s geographic location.

This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon’s annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary in addition to base salary.  The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
