Overview
The BI Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining enterprisegrade Business Intelligence solutions using Power BI, DAX, SQL, and semantic models. This role works closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, and analysts to translate requirements into scalable data models and intuitive, high-performing dashboards. The ideal candidate has strong technical skills, a solid understanding of data modeling best practices, and the ability to deliver insights that support strategic decisionmaking .
Responsibilities
Power BI Development

  • Design and develop interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI.
  • Build shared and certified semantic models to support self-service analytics and standardized reporting.
  • Develop complex DAX calculations, measures, and KPIs that ensure accurate, consistent business logic.
  • Optimize Power BI performance through model tuning, query reduction, and best-practice visualization standards.

Data Modeling & Semantic Layer

  • Design star schemas, dimensional models, and reusable semantic models for enterprise reporting.
  • Define relationships, hierarchies, and calculation groups to ensure scalable and maintainable datasets.
  • Align semantic models with enterprise data governance, naming conventions, and data definitions.

SQL & Data Engineering Support

  • Write advanced SQL queries to extract, transform, and validate datasets from relational and cloud data platforms.
  • Collaborate with data engineering teams to refine source data structures and improve data quality.
  • Troubleshoot data discrepancies, performance issues, and ETL/ELT data flow challenges.

Requirements Gathering & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner with business teams to understand reporting needs, KPIs, and functional requirements.
  • Translate business needs into technical specifications and reporting solutions.
  • Provide user training, documentation, and support for Power BI adoption across the organization.

Required
Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Analytics, or related field.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Power BI development.
  • Strong expertise with DAX, including advanced calculations and time-intelligence functions.
  • Proficient with SQL (joins, CTEs, window functions, performance tuning).
  • Experience building and maintaining Power BI semantic models (star schema, fact/dim tables).
  • Knowledge of BI best practices, data modeling methodologies, and performance optimization.

Preferred

  • Experience with cloud data platforms (Azure Synapse, Fabric, Databricks, Snowflake, etc.).
  • Familiarity with data governance, metadata, and enterprise reporting standards.
  • Experience with version control (Git) and DevOps CI/CD for BI assets.
  • Understanding of modern analytics platforms and data architecture patterns.
