What you'll do:
The Outside Sales Representative - Rental & Service is responsible for driving profitable sales growth by developing new business opportunities and building long-term customer relationships within an assigned territory. This role focuses on promoting rental equipment, equipment sales, parts, maintenance services, and related solutions while serving as a trusted advisor to customers. The ideal candidate is a motivated, customer-focused sales professional who thrives in a fast-paced, field-based environment and enjoys helping customers maximize productivity through equipment and service solutions.
Sales & Business Development
  • Develop new business through prospecting, networking, cold calling, referrals, and customer visits
  • Grow existing customer accounts by identifying opportunities to expand equipment rental, equipment sales, parts, and service business
  • Develop and execute territory sales plans to achieve revenue, margin, and customer growth objectives
  • Maintain an active sales pipeline and manage opportunities throughout the complete sales cycle
  • Meet or exceed established sales goals, activity targets, and key performance indicators

Customer Relationship Management
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, construction companies, municipalities, industrial customers, and other equipment users
  • Conduct regular customer visits, equipment evaluations, and jobsite meetings to identify customer needs
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned customer accounts
  • Provide consultative recommendations regarding equipment, rental solutions, replacement options, parts, and maintenance programs
  • Resolve customer concerns by coordinating with internal departments to deliver timely solutions

Rental & Service Sales
  • Promote rental equipment, equipment sales, replacement parts, maintenance services, and value-added solutions
  • Prepare quotations, rental agreements, service proposals, and equipment recommendations
  • Negotiate pricing and contract terms within company guidelines
  • Coordinate equipment availability, rental schedules, and delivery requirements with operations teams
  • Follow projects from initial quotation through delivery, service, and customer follow-up

Territory & Account Management
  • Manage daily travel schedules to maximize customer coverage and business development opportunities
  • Maintain accurate customer records, sales activities, forecasts, and pipeline information within CRM and ERP systems
  • Prepare activity reports, sales forecasts, and territory updates for management
  • Identify market trends, competitive activity, and new business opportunities within the assigned territory
  • Participate in trade shows, customer events, industry meetings, and marketing initiatives

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Rental Operations, Service, Parts, Dispatch, Customer Service, and Branch Operations to support customer needs
  • Coordinate customer handoffs and ensure seamless execution of rental, service, and equipment orders
  • Maintain strong working relationships with internal teams to ensure timely delivery and exceptional customer service
  • Continuously expand product knowledge through manufacturer training and company development programs
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

  • Experience using CRM systems, ERP software, Microsoft Office, and mobile sales tools
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills are a plus
  • Primarily field-based with frequent travel throughout an assigned sales territory
  • Regular visits to customer offices, construction sites, industrial facilities, and branch locations
  • Ability to safely navigate active jobsites and equipment yards
  • Occasional lifting of product samples, equipment components, or marketing materials up to 50 pounds
  • Flexibility to work extended hours or attend customer meetings and industry events as business needs require
