Job Description

Reports Directly to Facilities and Repair Manager

Habitat for Humanity of Forsyth County's Home Repair Program was established to help those improve upon the place they call home. By partnering with community homeowners, the Repair Program can assist families in the repairs they need, maintaining the safety and longevity of their homes. The Repair Associate will assist the Facilities and Repair Manager and/or Repair Supervisor as well as the Repair Supervisor to complete and facilitate all aspects of the construction side of the program. This is a hands-on role doing all the necessary repairs to existing homes.

Basic Functions: ย ย 

Complete all on-site construction tasks assigned by Repair Team Supervisor and/or Manager.

ย Ensure safe and effective completion of items on the Scope of Work for each project.

Ensure all projects are completed on time, efficiently and to affiliate standards.

Principal Duties:

The job requires a working knowledge of construction techniques and skills.

Knowledge of tools and hand tools used for various home repairs.

Accountable for the safety and security of assigned job sites and partner families

Ensure that duties assigned are completed in adequate timeframe provided.

Communicate closely with construction and Repair team to ensure all materials are available as needed.

Work together with other construction team members, as a team, to constantly improve construction processes.

Assist in the supervision of all site preparations needed, ensure tools and material are ready for the next working day.

Provide progress reports to the Facilities and Repair Manager and/or Repair Supervisor as requested.

Treat Partner Families and volunteers with respect and dignity and strives to make their construction involvement meaningful.

Ensure that communications with partner families are respectful, accurate, and timely, refer any additional request or concerns to Repair Supervisor or Repair and Facilities Manager.ย 

Safely operate Habitat vehicles and equipment - must be eligible to be added to Habitat vehicle insurance- this requires at least 5 years of driving experience and a favorable driving record.ย 

Properly maintain equipment and immediately deal with any malfunctions by reporting to the Manager.

Assist with Habitat special events as needed.

Comply with all policies and procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook

Other duties as assigned by Repair and Facilities Manger or Director of Family Services

Requirements

Skills:

  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people.
  • Willingness to promote the mission and activities of Habitat for Humanity.
  • Physical requirements:
  • Ability to be on one's feet for extended periods of time, often on rough and uneven terrain.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Ability ย to work on ladders and heights of up to two-stories.
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions.

Construction Site Environment

  • Construction ย sites are active construction sites with uneven terrain. This position will work both indoors and outdoors during all types of weather. ย Construction tools will be provided.
  • Repair Department works in the homes of existing homeowners, it is important to be respectful of their property and provide excellent Customer service.ย
