Job description

About the Role
A beverage warehouse doesn't run on sales decks and spreadsheets - it runs on people who know exactly where every pallet should be, who can move it precisely, and who take personal ownership of the space they work in. As a Forklift Operator on VED's day shift, you are the backbone of our warehouse operation. You restock the floor, maintain the integrity of our Controlled Environment Warehouse, and make sure the evening team has exactly what they need to build clean orders and get trucks out on time.
If you operate equipment with confidence, keep a tight workspace, and take pride in a warehouse that runs right - this is the role for you. VED is one of Virginia's leading beverage distributors, and our Verona facility is a fast-paced, team-oriented environment where your work directly drives the business forward every single day.
What You'll Do
  • Operate sit-down forklifts and electric walk-behind and walk/ride (walkie-rider) pallet jacks to restock product, move pallets, and maintain organized inventory throughout the shift
  • Straighten the Controlled Environment Warehouse (CEW) daily - level product on pallets in layers for structural integrity, condense inventory, and maintain organization
  • Maintain facility cleanliness to VED standards: sweep and scrub floors, address spills immediately, maintain outside storage areas and draft cooler throughout the day
  • Identify and segregate damaged product for repack; handle out-of-code product per VED policy
  • Reload dunnage items and empty cooperage for supplier return (approximately weekly)
  • Assist with picking delivery route orders as directed, following EasyPick scanning system procedures; pick sheets may be used as directed
  • Complete daily forklift pre-shift inspections and maintain forklift certification
  • Cross-train in other warehouse positions including evening shift coverage as needed

What We're Looking For
  • Ability to safely operate a sit-down forklift - forklift certification required (must obtain within 90 days of hire if not currently certified)
  • 2+ years of forklift experience preferred
  • Ability to lift and carry 15-40+ lbs repeatedly throughout a 10-15 hour shift, with frequent bending, reaching, standing, and mounting/dismounting equipment
  • Basic math skills: ability to count and verify case quantities
  • Reliable attendance - the day shift sets up the evening shift; your team depends on you
  • Comfortable working in a high-noise, temperature-controlled environment (approx. 50ยฐF in the CEW; outdoor temps in drive-thru areas)
  • Composite-toe footwear required on day one

What We Offer
  • Competitive hourly pay: $18.00-$24.00
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Company-paid short-term and long-term disability
  • Company-paid life insurance
  • Safe Harbor 401(k)
  • Paid time off (PTO)
  • Uniforms provided
