As of Aug 16, 2026, the average hourly pay for renewal in the United States is $35.05, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $25.48 and $41.59 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are some typical challenges faced by professionals working in renewal roles, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in Renewal roles often encounter challenges such as managing a high volume of client accounts, handling objections during contract negotiations, and ensuring timely communication to prevent lapses in service. Staying organized and proactive—using CRM tools and setting reminders—can help keep renewals on track. Building strong relationships with clients and collaborating closely with sales, customer success, and support teams also helps address concerns early and increases the likelihood of successful renewals.

What does a renewal do?

A renewal in a job context typically refers to extending or re-establishing a contract, license, or certification for a specified period. It ensures continued employment, authorization, or qualification, often requiring completion of certain requirements or documentation. Renewals help maintain compliance and ongoing eligibility for the role or credential.

What is a renewal specialist?

Renewal specialists are professionals responsible for managing and processing contract or subscription renewals for products or services. They work with clients to ensure timely renewals, address any issues or concerns, and may negotiate terms to retain customers. Their role helps companies maintain steady revenue by minimizing churn and building strong customer relationships. Renewal specialists often collaborate with sales, customer service, and account management teams.

What is the difference between Renewal vs License Specialist?

AspectRenewalLicense Specialist
Required CredentialsTypically requires renewal certifications or licensesRequires licensing, certification, or registration specific to industry
Work EnvironmentOften involves administrative tasks, customer communicationIncludes processing, verifying, and managing licenses
Employer & Industry UsageUsed across industries like insurance, finance, healthcareCommon in regulated industries requiring license management
Search & Comparison IntentPeople compare renewal processes or requirementsPeople look for license management or processing roles

Renewal roles focus on managing the renewal of existing licenses or certifications, ensuring compliance and timely updates. License Specialists handle the processing, verification, and management of licenses, often requiring specific industry certifications. While both involve compliance and documentation, Renewal is broader, often related to renewing existing credentials, whereas License Specialists focus on license issuance and maintenance.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a renewal specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Renewal Specialist, you need strong sales acumen, attention to detail, and experience with contract management or customer account renewal processes, often supported by a background in business or related fields. Familiarity with CRM software (such as Salesforce), renewal management tools, and sometimes certification in sales or customer success are typically required. Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills help you stand out by ensuring client satisfaction and retention. These skills are crucial because they directly impact revenue preservation and long-term customer loyalty for the organization.

Job description

About EliseAI
At EliseAI, we're improving the industries that matter most: housing and healthcare. Everyone needs a place to live and access to quality healthcare, yet both are often harder to secure than they should be.
By integrating AI agents deeply into existing workflows, we make them more efficient, reduce costs, and improve the experience for everyone.
  • Housing: We simplify how renters tour apartments, sign leases, submit maintenance requests, and stay connected with their property team-bringing everything they need for their home into one place.
  • Healthcare: We make it easy to schedule appointments, complete intake forms, and we help patients communicate with providers, so everyone can focus on health instead of paperwork.

With EliseAI, organizations reduce manual work, improve accessibility, and deliver a seamless experience across essential services. We recently raised a $250 million Series E round led by Andreessen Horowitz to accelerate this mission.
About The Role
EliseAI is looking for a Renewals Manager who will own the customer renewal motion end-to-end: forecasting, negotiation, process design, and expansion discovery. Your work will directly lock in multi-year revenue and surface new ARR that would otherwise be left on the table.
Key Responsibilities
  • Partner directly with C-level, VP, and director-level stakeholders to drive renewals from initial outreach through negotiation to close
  • Manage a high-volume book of business, consistently exceeding retention and multi-year renewal targets while identifying upsell and cross-sell opportunities
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Customer Success, Finance, and Legal to secure on-time renewals, preserve contract value, and unlock growth
  • Maintain a forward-looking 90-day forecast of gross renewal rate, net revenue retention, and risk exposure to provide leadership with real-time pipeline visibility
  • Serve as the voice of the customer to product teams, influencing roadmap decisions with feedback on new features and unmet needs
  • Work with GTM Strategy to refine and scale the renewal motion-developing repeatable email cadences, talk tracks, and reporting dashboards tailored to varying deal complexities

Why Top Sales Talent Joins EliseAI
  • Backed by Andreessen Horowitz, pioneering agentic AI to transform how property management operates
  • $200M+ ARR with 100% year-over-year growth
  • 5M units and 1 in 6 apartments in the U.S powered by EliseAI
  • Proven product-market fit and rapid industry adoption
  • High-ACV, fast-moving deals and consistently strong team attainment
    • Top three AEs on pace to book $65M+ in ARR this year
  • Ranked among the top sales organizations on RepVue

Move at rocket speed, build something massive.
We're scaling fast, solving real client problems with precision and ambition. Here, you own your impact; full autonomy, no micromanagement, no fluff. We hire the best, expect the best, and give you the masterclass of your career. It's hard, it's intense, and it's the most rewarding work you'll ever do. If you're hungry, driven, and ready to build something massive, climb aboard.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in a client-facing, quota carrying role (renewals, account management, sales, customer success) ideally in a SaaS company
  • Demonstrated experience in consistently meeting and exceeding quotas
  • Experience in managing complex renewal processes (multi-threading, ROI analysis, etc.) is a plus
  • Effective communicator with strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
  • Bonus: Experience working in real estate or prop tech
  • Willingness to work in person at our office at least 4 days a week

Why Join
Growth and impact. It's not often that you can get in on the ground floor of a funded (unicorn!) startup that's scaling so fast. That means that instead of following a playbook, you'll be writing it. Every single day you will be challenged to identify how we can scale and execute on it. You'll learn what works when you succeed and what doesn't when you fail. Either way, the rest of the team will be here to support you.
Benefits
In addition to the growth and impact you'll have at EliseAI, we offer competitive salaries along with the following benefits:
  • Equity in the company
  • Medical, Dental and Vision premiums covered at 100%
  • Fully paid parental leave
  • Commuter benefits
  • 401k benefits
  • Fitness & home services stipend to cover part of your expenses so you can focus on what matters
  • A collaborative in-office environment with an open floor plan, fully stocked kitchen, and all meals covered in the office
  • Unlimited vacation and paid holidays
  • We'll cover relocation packages and make the move exciting, not painful!

Job Compensation Range
Compensation range for this role $115,000 ($150,000 OTE). EliseAI offers a competitive total rewards package which includes base salary, equity, a comprehensive benefits & perks package, and bonus depending on the role. Exact compensation is determined based on a number of factors including experience, skill level, location and qualifications which are assessed during the interview process. Additional details about total compensation and benefits will be provided by our Recruiting Team during the hiring process. In addition to the salary range listed, this role is eligible for commission based compensation.
EliseAI provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.
Please note that employment with EliseAI is on an "at-will" basis, which means that either the employee or the company may terminate the employment relationship at any time, with or without cause or notice.
Pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, we will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.
If you need assistance and/or a reasonable accommodation in the application or recruiting process due to a disability, please contact us at recruiting@eliseai.com
