Senior Manager or Director, Tax Credit Origination/Finance

DESRI Project Management Services, L.L.C., New York, NY, United States Executive Management

About DESRI

DESRI (formerly D. E. Shaw Renewable Investments) is a market-leading owner and operator of renewable energy projects throughout the United States. We have acquired or developed approximately 13 gigawatts of contracted capacity across a portfolio of over 85 renewable energy projects in 24 states.

At DESRI, our culture is grounded in rigorous analytics and thoughtful risk-taking, with a strong emphasis on creativity, intellectual curiosity, and continuous improvement. We operate with lean teams that prioritize efficiency and minimize unnecessary bureaucracy, enabling individuals to take ownership and move quickly. We value open, constructive dialogue and believe it leads to better outcomes. Above all, we are driven to go the extra mile and support one another, fostering a collaborative environment built on accountability, integrity, and care.

About the role

DESRI seeks a talented and highly motivated individual to join its team as a Senior Manager or Director, Tax Credit Origination/Finance (title commensurate with experience). This role will focus on building and managing a direct pipeline of corporate tax credit buyers and supporting the execution of transactions across DESRI’s portfolio.

The position is highly relationship-driven, with a primary emphasis on sourcing, developing, and closing relationships with corporate counterparties. The ideal candidate will bring an existing network of contacts and the ability to originate opportunities, working closely with internal teams to support execution.

What you’ll do
  • Build and manage a direct book of tax credit buyers, develop relationships with corporate counterparties and advisory firms, and originate new transaction opportunities.
  • Lead opportunities from initial outreach through closing and serve as a primary external-facing representative of DESRI.
  • Work closely with internal teams across finance, legal, and asset management to support transaction execution, including coordination of diligence and closing processes.
  • Track market developments and buyer demand, provide insights on pricing and market dynamics, and support DESRI’s broader origination efforts.
Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree required and at least 6–8 years of relevant experience in tax credit origination, tax equity, advisory, or related corporate finance roles.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage client relationships and originate transactions.
  • Existing network of corporate contacts, particularly within tax advisory firms or corporate tax departments.
  • Experience in a commercial, client-facing role with exposure to deal execution.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with the ability to collaborate across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with renewable energy tax credits is preferred.
Compensation and benefits

At DESRI, compensation is based on market indicators and specific job family, background, location, skills, and experience. The expected annual base salary is $225,000 to $300,000 (depending on title and experience). Benefits include a year-end bonus that is guaranteed in the first year of hire, medical and prescription drug coverage, 401(k) contribution matching, paid time off, wellness reimbursement, family building benefits, and a charitable gift match program.
