What is remote working?

A remote working job is a position that allows employees to perform their duties from a location outside of a traditional office, typically from home or another remote setting. This setup relies on digital communication tools such as email, video conferencing, and collaboration software to stay connected with teams. Remote work offers flexibility in terms of location and often working hours, depending on the employer's policies. It can be full-time, part-time, or freelance, depending on the job and industry. Many companies have adopted remote work to improve work-life balance and access global talent.

What can I expect from the team culture and communication style in fully remote roles?

In fully remote roles, team communication often relies on messaging apps, video calls, and project management platforms to keep everyone connected and aligned. You can expect a culture that values proactive updates, regular check-ins, and clear documentation to ensure transparency and accountability. Many remote teams foster a collaborative environment through virtual meetings, online social events, and shared digital spaces for informal chats. While flexibility is a key benefit, strong communication skills and self-motivation are crucial to staying engaged and contributing to team goals.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in remote working, and why are they important?

To thrive in a remote working role, strong self-discipline, time management, and proficiency in digital collaboration platforms are essential, typically supported by experience in a relevant field. Familiarity with tools such as Zoom, Slack, project management software (like Asana or Trello), and secure VPNs is often required. Excellent written communication, adaptability, and the ability to work independently are standout soft skills in this environment. These qualities enable productivity and effective team contribution regardless of location, which is critical to remote work success.

This full-time position offers the flexibility of working 100% remotely, enabling you to maintain a work-life balance while making a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals facing mental health challenges. As an integral part of our team, you will deliver comprehensive mental health services that align with our commitment to accessibility and quality care.

About the Organization

Fortius Mental and Behavioral Services is a progressive community health clinic located in Springfield, Massachusetts, committed to empowering clients through specialized mental health support. Our mission revolves around providing compassionate care facilitated by a network of diverse counselors, including Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFT), Licensed Independent Clinical Social Workers (LICSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHC), and other qualified professionals. Through our robust organizational framework, we ensure our therapists are equipped with the necessary resources to excel in their practice.

This role is entirely remote, providing the comfort and convenience of working from your own home. At Fortius, we prioritize creating an inclusive virtual workspace that fosters collaboration and professional growth. The counselor portal you will access is user-friendly, designed to streamline your practice management while reducing administrative burdens. Our support staff is committed to providing you with uninterrupted assistance to enhance your remote working experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct ethical and compassionate individual counseling sessions via secure video chat, ensuring a comfortable and private setting for clients.
  • Implement evidence-based, solution-focused treatment modalities tailored to the unique needs of each client.
  • Develop, execute, and regularly review comprehensive treatment plans to facilitate client progress and enhance mental health outcomes.
  • Assist clients in identifying insights into their thoughts and emotions, as well as help them improve their relationships.
  • Monitor client progress continuously throughout their therapy journey, making adjustments to treatment plans as required to ensure effectiveness.
  • Support clients in establishing healthy coping mechanisms that are crucial for managing symptoms and enhancing overall well-being.
Patient Population / Client Focus

You will engage primarily with stable, low-acuity adult clients who present with various mental health challenges. Your role is pivotal in assisting these individuals to develop essential life skills tailored to their personal experiences. Our goal is not only to provide support but to empower clients in gaining better control over their mental health, ultimately enhancing their quality of life.

Qualifications
  • A master's degree in a counseling-related field, such as Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology.

  • No limiting or provisional licenses; no previous disciplinary actions.
  • Diverse interpersonal skills that foster trust, empathy, and communication with clients.
  • Strong digital literacy skills, with the ability to navigate telehealth platforms efficiently.
  • Access to a reliable computer with webcam and audio capabilities for conducting videoconferencing sessions.
  • Dependable internet connection, ensuring uninterrupted telehealth services for clients.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience in providing counseling in a community health setting, demonstrating an understanding of varied patient demographics.
  • Familiarity with digital documentation and teletherapy platforms that streamline client interaction.
  • A proactive mindset towards client engagement and commitment to ongoing personal and professional development.
Compensation and Benefits

Your compensation is competitive, ranging from USD 90,000 to USD 104,000 per year based on experience and the total hours worked. We offer a sign-on bonus and a monthly healthcare stipend for full-time employees. Additionally, our payment structure ensures timely weekly direct deposits for your convenience.

Career Growth Opportunities

At Fortius, we believe in supporting our counselorsโ€™ aspirations for career advancement. With access to continual training, networking opportunities, and leadership development, you will be empowered to reach your professional goals.
