Blue Yonder Job Title:

Sr. Director, IT- Finance

* Knowledge of Workday financials is required in this role.

Location:

US Remote

Dallas and Scottsdale preferred

Overview:

The Senior Director, Finance IT is a senior technology leadership role accountable for the strategy, transformation, delivery, and operations of the global Finance technology portfolio. This leader owns the end-to-end technology capability across core finance processes-Record-to-Report (R2R), Source-to-Pay (S2P), Asset Accounting, Payroll, Accounts Payable, Order-to-Cash (O2C), and Budget & Forecasting-and leads a global team of engineers, architects, and product owners in delivering scalable, resilient, and intelligent finance technology solutions.

Scope:

Operating at the intersection of Finance and Enterprise Technology, this leader partners closely with the IT organization, CFO organization, Controllership, FP&A, Accounting, and Procurement to align technology investment with business outcomes. The role requires deep platform expertise, a strong transformation track record, and the executive presence to drive change across a complex, matrixed global organization.

What you will do:

Strategy & Roadmap

  • Define and own the multi-year Finance IT technology strategy aligned to CFO priorities, enterprise architecture standards, and Blue Yonder's growth objectives.

  • Serve as the primary technology partner to Finance leadership across Controllership, FP&A, Accounting, Treasury, and Procurement.

  • Lead platform rationalization, consolidation, and modernization initiatives across the Finance technology portfolio.

  • Evaluate emerging capabilities in AI/ML, automation, and cloud to drive competitive advantage in finance operations.

Program & Project Delivery

  • Oversee the end-to-end delivery of Finance technology programs spanning new implementations, upgrades, integrations, and enhancements.

  • Drive disciplined project execution using Agile and hybrid delivery methodologies-on scope, schedule, and budget.

  • Partner with PMO and Finance stakeholders to prioritize and sequence the delivery portfolio against capacity and strategic value.

  • Own governance and reporting for Finance IT programs to VP of Enterprise Technology and senior Finance leadership.

Operations & Service Delivery

  • Ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of mission-critical Finance platforms including Workday Finance, WAC, BlackLine, Lucernex, WSS, and Oracle ePBCS.

  • Lead the Finance IT operational model including SLA management, incident response, break-fix triage, and root cause resolution.

  • Drive continuous improvement in system stability, data quality, and user experience across all Finance technology touchpoints.

Process Domain Ownership

  • Record-to-Report (R2R): Oversee technology enabling the financial close process, journal entries, reconciliations, and consolidation.

  • Source-to-Pay (S2P): Lead sourcing, procurement, and AP technology including Workday Strategic Sourcing and downstream payables processes.

  • Asset Accounting: Manage technology supporting fixed assets, lease accounting (ASC 842 via Lucernex), and capital tracking.

  • Payroll: Partner with HR IT to ensure integrated, compliant payroll processing across all geographies.

  • Order-to-Cash (O2C): Support AR, billing, collections, and revenue recognition technology.

  • Budget & Forecasting: Own Oracle ePBCS platform health, enhancements, and integration with Workday Finance for actuals.

  • Reporting & Analytics: Deliver finance reporting platforms and BI capabilities including Workday Prism, WAC analytics, and ePBCS reporting.

Transformation & Innovation

  • Lead finance technology transformation programs including close automation, AI-assisted reconciliation, and intelligent procurement.

  • Champion adoption of Workday Accounting Center as the subledger transformation platform, driving migration from legacy accounting configurations.

  • Identify and implement automation opportunities that reduce manual effort, improve accuracy, and accelerate financial close cycles.

  • Build the Finance IT roadmap for Generative AI and Copilot integration across finance workflows.

Finance Technology Acumen & Portfolio Intelligence

  • Maintain deep, current knowledge of the Finance technology landscape-including ERP, EPM, CLM, close management, and procurement platforms-to serve as a credible, forward-looking technology advisor to Finance and executive leadership.

  • Drive a platform-depth-first philosophy-systematically auditing owned system capabilities against actual utilization, identifying and closing feature adoption gaps before pursuing new technology investments or custom development.

  • Lead ongoing application and SKU rationalization across the Finance technology portfolio-eliminating redundant tools, consolidating overlapping capabilities, and reducing total cost of ownership while improving user experience and data integrity.

  • Conduct regular license and entitlement reviews across all Finance platforms to ensure the organization is purchasing what it uses and using what it purchases-optimizing spend and surfacing consolidation opportunities on vendor renewal cycles.

  • Maintain an active pulse on the direction of the Finance technology industry-tracking vendor roadmaps (Workday, Oracle, BlackLine, Ironclad, and others), analyst perspectives, and peer benchmarks to ensure the Finance IT roadmap reflects where the market is heading, not just where it has been.

  • Build and maintain a Finance IT technology radar that tracks emerging capabilities, evaluates build/buy/partner options, and informs multi-year roadmap decisions with a clear view of industry trajectory-including the evolving role of AI in financial operations.

  • Evaluate and pilot AI and machine learning capabilities embedded within owned platforms (Workday AI, BlackLine Intelligence, Oracle AI) and adjacent tools (Microsoft Copilot, Agentforce) to identify high-ROI opportunities in close automation, anomaly detection, intelligent forecasting, and contract analytics.

  • Serve as the Finance technology thought leader internally-sharing market insights with Finance and IT leadership, challenging legacy assumptions about the technology stack, and sponsoring a culture of continuous learning and platform curiosity within the Finance IT team.

Team Leadership & Organization

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a global team of Finance IT professionals spanning solution architects, functional analysts, developers, and operations engineers.

  • Build a high-performance, inclusive team culture across time zones and geographies.

  • Manage vendor relationships, system integrators, and platform partners to ensure delivery quality and commercial alignment.

  • Define and execute a talent and capability development strategy for the Finance IT organization.

Legal & Compliance Systems

  • Own the technology strategy and operational delivery for Legal and Compliance systems, including Ironclad (CLM), compliance management, and legal matter/entity platforms.

  • Lead Ironclad CLM administration, configuration, workflow design, and integration with Salesforce, Finance, and Procurement systems to support end-to-end contract lifecycle management from request through renewal.

  • Partner with Legal, Risk, and Compliance stakeholders to deliver technology enabling policy management, ethics reporting, regulatory compliance tracking, and audit readiness across the enterprise.

  • Ensure Legal and Compliance systems are integrated with the broader enterprise data ecosystem, enabling reporting on contract obligations, compliance posture, and regulatory risk exposure.

  • Support legal matter management, outside counsel tracking, and entity governance platforms, ensuring data accuracy and process efficiency for the Legal Operations function.

System Adoption & Change Enablement

  • Lead end-user adoption strategy for Finance platform rollouts, ensuring Finance teams are equipped, trained, and confident in new system capabilities.

  • Partner with Finance leadership and HR to design role-based training programs, change impact assessments, and communication plans for major system transitions.

  • Establish adoption KPIs and feedback mechanisms across Workday Finance, BlackLine, Oracle ePBCS, and related platforms to measure utilization, identify gaps, and drive continuous enablement.

  • Champion a culture of feature utilization-driving adoption of native platform capabilities before pursuing custom development or workarounds.

Quality Assurance & Testing

  • Own the Finance IT testing strategy and governance model, ensuring all platform changes-from major releases to minor configurations-are validated through structured, risk-appropriate testing cycles.

  • Define and enforce test standards across unit, integration, regression, UAT, and parallel-run testing disciplines for Workday Finance, WAC, BlackLine, Lucernex, WSS, and Oracle ePBCS.

  • Drive adoption of automated testing frameworks and regression suites to reduce manual testing overhead and accelerate Workday bi-annual release readiness.

  • Coordinate cross-functional UAT with Finance SMEs, ensuring business sign-off gates are met prior to production deployment on all Finance platform changes.

SOX Compliance & IT General Controls

  • Own the Finance IT General Controls (ITGCs) posture across all in-scope systems, ensuring change management, access controls, and security configurations meet SOX requirements year-round-not just at audit time.

  • Partner with Internal Audit, External Audit, and the CISO organization to support SOX walkthroughs, evidence collection, and remediation of control deficiencies across Finance systems.

  • Ensure system configuration changes, enhancements, and releases across Workday Finance, BlackLine, Lucernex, and Oracle ePBCS adhere to change management controls required for SOX compliance.

  • Maintain Segregation of Duties (SoD) frameworks within Finance platforms, working with Security and Finance Ops to detect, remediate, and prevent access conflicts across roles.

  • Establish and maintain a continuous controls monitoring capability, leveraging platform-native audit trails and automated alerting to proactively surface compliance risks ahead of audit cycles.

What we are looking for:

Required

  • 12+ years of progressive technology leadership experience with 5+ years in a Finance IT or ERP leadership role.

  • Deep platform expertise in Workday Financials (including Workday Accounting Center) - implementation and post-production operations.

  • Demonstrated experience leading complex, multi-workstream Finance technology programs in a global enterprise.

  • Strong domain knowledge across R2R, S2P, AP, O2C, Asset Accounting, Payroll, and FP&A processes.

  • Experience with financial close platforms (BlackLine preferred) and planning/budgeting tools (Oracle ePBCS or equivalent).

  • Track record of leading and developing diverse, distributed global technology teams.

  • Proven ability to operate as a strategic partner to Finance executives while maintaining delivery accountability.

  • Strong understanding of SOX controls, financial compliance, and audit requirements in a technology context.

  • Demonstrated Finance technology acumen-proven ability to assess platform utilization depth, lead application rationalization initiatives, and shape a forward-looking roadmap grounded in industry direction, vendor strategy, and emerging AI capabilities.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, or a related field.

Preferred

  • Workday Finance certification(s) or implementation credentials.

  • Experience with Lucernex or comparable lease accounting platforms.

  • Hands-on experience with Ironclad CLM or comparable contract lifecycle management platforms (Conga, DocuSign CLM, Agiloft); familiarity with CLM integrations into Salesforce and Finance systems.

  • Experience supporting Legal Operations or Compliance technology functions, including policy management, matter tracking, or ethics/hotline platforms.

  • Exposure to AI/ML use cases within finance automation (intelligent reconciliation, anomaly detection, NLP in reporting).

  • MBA or advanced degree in a related discipline.

  • Experience in a SaaS, high-growth technology, or supply chain software company.

  • Familiarity with Agentforce, Microsoft Copilot, or Workday AI in a Finance context.
