The Position

This is an excellent opportunity for lawyers with experience handling insurance coverage/coverage litigation matters to work with a collaborative group of experience coverage/coverage litigation attorneys who handle cases in California and throughout the US, working with domestic and foreign insurers.

Qualifications

  • JD from an ABA accredited law school
  • Admitted to practice in the state of California
  • 2-8 years of defense litigation 
  • 1+ years of coverage/coverage litigation experience
  • Experience in areas of insurance coverage including drafting coverage opinions in one or more insurance lines (CGL, property, professional liability, cyber, intellectual property, etc.)
  • Experience in either or both third-party or first-party claims
  • Coverage analysis and writing experience
  • Experience drafting discovery and pretrial motions required
  • Experience cross-examining plaintiffs and other fact witnesses preferred
  • Experience handling court appearances, depositions, and trial experience a plus
  • Trial experience a plus
  • Superior analytical skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, legal memoranda, and other legal documents
  • Attend court hearings, depositions, and mediations
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues across departments and offices, contributing to a cohesive and supportive team environment
  • Investigate claims and draft coverage opinion letters
  • In coverage litigation matters, draft pleadings, motions, and handle discovery
  • Provide clients with insurance coverage advice on a variety of subjects
  • Communicate with clients and provide status reports
