Position Overview
RIVA Solutions is seeking a Senior Trusted Tester / Section 508 Accessibility Specialist to lead accessibility testing and compliance efforts for Federal client digital platforms and web products. The ideal candidate will perform manual and automated accessibility testing, validate remediation activities, support accessibility reporting, and collaborate with developers, UX teams, content analysts, QA staff, and Government stakeholders to embed accessibility throughout the digital lifecycle.
Core Responsibilities
  • Perform accessibility testing using DHS Trusted Tester methodology, WCAG criteria, Section 508 standards, and Federal client accessibility requirements.
  • Test web pages, Drupal templates, forms, PDFs, Word documents, data visualizations, multimedia, video captions, images, charts, and interactive components for accessibility compliance.
  • Execute manual and automated test cases, document findings, assign severity and priority, track defects in Jira, verify fixes, and perform regression testing.
  • Use assistive technologies and accessibility tools to assess keyboard navigation, focus order, headings, labels, ARIA, form controls, tables, color contrast, alt text, captions, and document structure.
  • Provide remediation guidance to developers, content analysts, UX staff, web administrators, and Federal client stakeholders.
  • Support monthly Section 508 scans, accessibility reports, dashboards, leaderboards, and recurring issue trend analysis.
  • Participate in sprint reviews, release testing, migration validation, and deployment readiness reviews to identify accessibility issues early.
  • Support accessibility training and coaching for content creators, editors, web administrators, and technical staff.
  • Collaborate with QA and development teams to integrate accessibility testing with functional, browser, mobile, and regression testing.
Minimum Qualifications
  • DHS Trusted Tester certification or equivalent demonstrated expertise in Section 508/WCAG accessibility testing.
  • Experience testing websites, documents, multimedia, forms, or web applications for accessibility compliance.
  • Hands-on experience with tools such as ANDI, JAWS/NVDA, WAVE, Axe, Lighthouse, Color Contrast Analyzer, Adobe Acrobat accessibility tools, or similar technologies.
  • Understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, ARIA, semantic markup, keyboard accessibility, screen reader behavior, and accessible design principles.
  • Experience documenting defects, remediation recommendations, test results, and accessibility reports using Jira or comparable tools.
  • Ability to communicate accessibility requirements and remediation approaches to developers, content staff, designers, and Government stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Drupal/WCMS content accessibility, PDF remediation, Tableau or data visualization accessibility, and multimedia captioning/transcription.
  • Experience supporting Federal, Federal, Federal client, healthcare, or public health digital properties.
  • Knowledge of USWDS, plain language, accessible data visualization, and mobile/responsive accessibility.
  • Experience developing accessibility SOPs, checklists, training materials, or monthly compliance reports.
