Job Description

We are seeking a VP, Real Estate Development to join BGRE in Dallas, TX/Remote. In this position, you will play a key role in helping to expand our business in one of the most dynamic multifamily markets in the U.S. - and BGRE is investing to grow with it. This is a unique opportunity to build a Texas platform from a position of real influence, backed by the scale and resources of a global real estate leader.

Our Development team identifies, underwrites, and executes new multifamily and mixed-use development opportunities across BGRE's target markets. The team oversees all aspects of the development process, from building the relationships and deal pipeline that fuel the company's long-term growth, to overseeing the acquisition, design and construction functions to bring projects from initial concept through delivery.

Role & Responsibilities:
  • Source, evaluate, and lead execution of new development and acquisition opportunities across BGRE's core Texas markets (Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin)

  • Build and manage a robust pipeline of off-market and marketed development acquisition opportunities through relationships with brokers, landowners, municipalities, and capital partners

  • Lead due diligence for new acquisitions, coordinating with legal, engineering, environmental, and other consultants to assess risk and feasibility

  • Cultivate and expand relationships with landowners, developers, brokers, municipalities, economic development agencies, and capital partners across Texas

  • Engage with our investment analysis team to develop, maintain, and present financial models and underwriting for prospective development opportunities, including DCF projections, return sensitivities, and comparable market analysis

  • Represent BGRE at industry events, conferences, and local government meetings to build brand presence and generate new deal flow

  • Coordinate information exchange with regional offices and cross-functional teams, including Acquisitions, Design & Construction, Leasing, Asset Management, Legal, and Marketing, to advance opportunities from sourcing through closing

  • Monitor entitlement, zoning, and land use requirements; develop and maintain expertise in local regulations and trends across target Texas markets

  • Assist in setting the annual business development strategy, goals, and objectives

  • Develop, maintain, & report on financial models for current & prospective development projects

  • Track project budgets & prepare reports for internal FP&A team; help to set project-related tasks, milestones, & meeting schedules during acquisitions, predevelopment, entitlements, & construction

  • Engage with & help oversee the workflow of architects, engineers, general contractors & other consultants & service providers

Your Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in real estate, finance, business, or related field; graduate degree a plus

  • 10+ years of experience in commercial real estate development, acquisitions, or business development, with a demonstrated track record of sourcing and closing deals in Texas markets

  • Established network of relationships with landowners, brokers, municipalities, and capital partners across Texas

  • Experience managing and overseeing all aspects of a development project- Acquisition, entitlement, design, construction, lease up.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; ARGUS Enterprise experience a plus

  • Strong deal-sourcing, negotiation, and relationship-building skills

  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and strategic problem-solving abilities

  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills

  • Ability to lead cross-functional deal teams and work collaboratively across departments

  • Ability to compellingly articulate ideas, arguments, and recommendations to senior leadership and external partners

  • Ability to manage multiple opportunities simultaneously; strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines

  • Self-motivated and entrepreneurial, with a proactive approach to identifying and pursuing new business opportunities

  • Willingness to travel throughout Texas and the greater U.S. as needed
