Associate Veterinarian
About the Role
Are you ready to leave the physical demands of clinical practice behind - without leaving veterinary medicine?
As an Associate Veterinarian at Pet Poison Helpline, you'll provide expert toxicology consultations by phone, email, and chat to veterinarians and other veterinary clinic professionals. You'll document cases in our electronic medical records system, support and guide veterinary support and technician staff in the contact center and collaborate with veterinarian coworkers on case management. We provide comprehensive training from day one to help you be prepared and successful in your role.
A Schedule You Can Plan Your Life Around
Full Time Evening Shift:
  • 4 shifts/week, 10.5 hours each. This is a reliable schedule with predictable end times.
  • Consistent every-other-week rotation. The days of the week you work are set on a 2 week rotation providing great work-life balance.
  • Shifts between 2:30pm-4am CST. This is a great schedule for night owls. Schedules published 4-6 weeks in advance.
  • Every other weekend with some holidays.
  • Opportunities for overtime. We don't require overtime, but the hours are available for extra $$ if you want.
Pay & Differentials
  • Base pay: $48-$50/hour varies based on several factors including education, experience and credentialing. Pay is discussed further in our interview process.
  • Full Time Employees eligible for a $3/hour evening differential on top of your base rate.
  • All Full and Part Time Employees eligible for a $5/hour weekend differential earned for all hours worked between 12am Saturday and 4am Monday, stacked on top of base pay and any other differentials

Weekend hours Full Time team members earn $56-$58/hour, all from the comfort of your home!

Training
5 weeks paid, full-time training (40 hrs/week). Hours vary and may include days, mids and evening shifts. Training schedules are set in advance and no conflicts can be accommodated during this period.
Required Qualifications
  • Active Minnesota veterinary license or ability to obtain one upon hire.
  • 3+ years of clinical experience; emergency or internship experience strongly preferred
  • Clear, compassionate communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong critical thinker who can juggle complex, fast-moving cases.
  • Must be able to gather and analyze complex information and have sound and accurate judgement.
  • Strong attention to detail, multitasking and accuracy
  • Advanced proficiency with keyboarding, PCs, Microsoft Office and common computer software and hardware.
  • Ability to work varying shifts as assigned including days, evenings and holidays.
