Job description

Position: Project Manager – Transmission Capital Projects (Remote) Location: Remote Pay Rate: $110.00/hr. Contract Duration: 12-Months System One is seeking an experienced Project Manager to support transmission-side capital projects within a regulated utility environment with our client. This role serves as the internal owner of project scope and delivery, partnering closely with Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) firms responsible for engineering design and construction execution. The Project Manager will oversee projects from early planning and initiation through construction, commissioning, and close-out, ensuring successful execution against scope, schedule, budget, and key project milestones. This position is ideal for candidates with utility transmission, electric infrastructure, or other large-scale linear infrastructure project experience. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full project lifecycle from initiation through project close-out.
  • Serve as the primary internal owner of project scope, schedule, budget, and deliverables.
  • Coordinate closely with EPC contractors and construction partners throughout project execution.
  • Monitor project progress, risks, milestones, and overall performance.
  • Collaborate with cost management teams on budgeting, forecasting, and financial tracking.
  • Partner with project schedulers to maintain accurate project timelines and resource planning.
  • Prepare executive-level project reports and presentations for leadership stakeholders.
  • Facilitate communication between internal teams, leadership, and external partners.
  • Identify and resolve project issues while proactively managing risks and dependencies.
  • Ensure project execution aligns with regulatory, operational, and business objectives.

Required Experience & Skills:
  • Minimum 5 years of project management experience; 8+ years strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience working within an EPC project delivery model.
  • Experience managing utility, transmission, energy, or large-scale linear infrastructure projects.
  • Proven ability to manage projects throughout the full lifecycle, from initiation through close-out.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience managing project budgets, schedules, and reporting requirements.
