The Opportunity:

Tetra Tech is seeking a Stormwater Project Manager to lead the design and delivery of high-impact stormwater infrastructure and watershed management projects across the Southeastern United States. This role is ideal for an experienced engineering professional who wants to lead technically complex work, shape project strategy, mentor junior engineers, and serve as a trusted advisor to public-sector clients.

This position offers flexibility with hybrid work schedules in our Atlanta, GA, Cocoa, FL, or Jacksonville, FL offices, as well as remote work within the Southeast United States

Why Tetra Tech:

At Tetra Tech, we are Leading with Science to solve the world's most complex challenges. Our industry-leading experts in engineering and consulting are committed to driving positive change in communities around the world. For 60 years, we have been at the forefront of innovation and sustainability. Today we stand as a market leader, offering cutting-edge solutions in water, environment, energy, and international development. What Sets This Role Apart:

This is a chance to step into a leadership role on a team that is already delivering some of the most technically advanced environmentally focused stormwater work in the Southeast. The work spans municipal, state, and federal clients and includes projects that influence policy, improve resilience, and set the standard for smart stormwater design.

Recent work includes:

  • Supporting Gwinnett County, Georgia on forward-looking stormwater initiatives that advance flood resilience, water supply resiliency, and environmental performance through stormwater manual development, BMP monitoring guidance, ordinance review and revision, BMP construction inspection training, and the design of demonstration projects, stream restoration, wetland enhancement, and green stormwater infrastructure.

  • Leading water resources engineering design and permitting efforts for multiple Florida counties, including countywide stormwater master planning, flood modeling, engineering design, construction plans and specifications, permit applications, and support for coastal and inland wetland restoration and habitat enhancement projects.

  • Providing low-impact development and green stormwater infrastructure planning, along with watershed management and on-call stormwater services for municipalities throughout the Southeast.

Position Summary:

The Stormwater Project Manager plays a key role in advancing Tetra Tech's mission to build resilient, sustainable communities. This position leads the design and delivery of innovative projects focused on green stormwater infrastructure, water quality and quantity, and community resiliency for municipal, state, and federal clients. As a Project Manager, you will take on a leadership role managing interdisciplinary teams, developing creative solutions, providing technical oversight, and delivering impactful projects that protect and improve our local communities.

Essential Job Functions:

The following duties are considered essential to the role. Reasonable accommodation may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions:

  • Lead the planning, technical direction, and delivery of stormwater infrastructure projects, including green stormwater infrastructure, water quality and quantity improvements, and community and climate resiliency initiatives.

  • Serve as a trusted client advisor and primary technical point of contact on complex municipal, state, and federal stormwater assignments.

  • Lead interdisciplinary teams in developing innovative, practical, and defensible stormwater solutions.

  • Provide technical oversight for designs, construction documents, plans, specifications, and cost-benefit analyses.

  • Provide senior-level review and oversight of hydraulic, hydrologic, and watershed analyses, including GIS-based data interpretation and statistical evaluation.

  • Direct project schedules, budgets, scope, deliverables, and client communications to ensure successful execution and strong client satisfaction.

  • Lead quality assurance and quality control standards across all phases of project delivery.

  • Contribute to business development efforts through client engagement, proposal development, scope definition, and identification of new opportunities.

  • Prepare and present technical memoranda, reports, briefings, and client presentations that clearly communicate project direction and recommendations.

  • Mentor junior engineers, helping build technical depth, professional confidence, and leadership capacity within the team.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, civil engineering, or related engineering field.

  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant engineering experience with demonstrated expertise in stormwater design and watershed management.

  • Experience leading municipal client work, including construction support, site assessments, survey review, and field observations.

  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Florida or Georgia, or ability to obtain licensure in one of those states within six months of hire.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and ArcGIS, along with experience using modeling software such as StormWise (formerly ICPR), PCSWMM, and HEC-RAS.

  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Proven experience preparing and delivering client presentations, preferably for municipal or other public-sector clients.

  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, and the ability to quickly adapt to additional design and analysis tools as needed.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage competing priorities, and build trusted client relationships.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in civil engineering or environmental engineering.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to travel to Atlanta, GA and Jacksonville FL for site visits and client meetings as needed; travel is estimated at up to 10% annually, including occasional overnight travel.
