Position Overview

Avella Behavioral Health Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Mental Health Counselor to join our team. Work Environment

You will collaborate daily with interdisciplinary teams including psychiatrists, nurses, and social workers, ensuring a seamless continuum of care for our clients. Key Responsibilities

• Conducting thorough preliminary interviews and accurately documenting cases from the initial consultation through to treatment completion.
• Assessing clients’ mental, emotional, and behavioral health to make informed treatment decisions.
• Developing and implementing personalized intervention and recovery plans for individuals, couples, families, and groups.
• Facilitating engaging individual and group therapy sessions, employing evidence-based practices to address specific client needs.
• Monitoring client progress and modifying treatment plans as necessary based on their development and feedback.
• Collaborating with a diverse range of healthcare professionals to create comprehensive intervention strategies tailored to each client's situation.
• Providing essential follow-up care, including communication with psychiatrists and attending physicians for clients requiring hospitalization.
• Identifying and addressing barriers to recovery, developing preventative strategies to mitigate challenges clients may face.
• Supporting family members and primary caregivers in understanding and managing the mental and behavioral health needs of clients.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Our client base consists of individuals from varied backgrounds, facing an array of mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and addiction. As a vital member of our care team, you will engage with clients of all ages, providing you with the opportunity to make a profound impact on their lives while fostering positive outcomes in a community setting.

Qualifications

• Master's or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
• Current and valid licensure as an LMFT, LCPC, or LCSW within the state of Illinois is required.
• Successful completion of the National Counselor Examination (NCE) and/or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).
• Prior experience as a mental health counselor in a clinical setting is mandatory.
• Proficiency with electronic health record systems, specifically experience with software such as AVATAR is preferred.
• A solid understanding of the interplay between mental health conditions and underlying physical health issues or substance use disorders.
• Familiarity with the best practices outlined by the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA).
• In-depth knowledge of psychotropic medications and their effects on mental health treatment.
• Exceptional communication and active listening skills, with the ability to easily connect with clients and colleagues.
• A compassionate, supportive demeanor that encourages trust and understanding in therapeutic relationships.

Preferred Experience

• Background in working with diverse populations, including varied age groups and cultural backgrounds.
• Experience in crisis intervention and management is a valuable asset.
• Familiarity with telehealth practices and technologies can enhance your effectiveness in this remote position.

Compensation and Benefits

Avella Behavioral Health Center offers a competitive salary ranging from USD 80,000 to 100,000 annually, plus a sign-on bonus.
