Remote Travel Procurement information

What is remote travel procurement?

Remote travel procurement refers to the process of sourcing, negotiating, and managing travel services and arrangements for a company or organization, all performed remotely rather than from a traditional office setting. Professionals in this role handle tasks such as booking flights, hotels, and transportation, managing travel policies, and ensuring cost-effectiveness and compliance with company guidelines. The use of digital tools and communication platforms enables remote travel procurement specialists to collaborate with travel vendors and internal teams from anywhere in the world.

How does a remote travel procurement professional typically collaborate with internal teams and external vendors?

Remote Travel Procurement professionals work closely with internal departments such as finance, HR, and operations to understand travel needs, establish budgets, and ensure compliance with company policies. Externally, they negotiate with travel vendors like airlines, hotels, and car rental agencies to secure favorable terms and rates. Effective communication and relationship management are crucial, as much of the coordination happens virtually. Regular meetings, clear documentation, and strong negotiation skills help ensure seamless travel arrangements for employees and cost savings for the organization.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote travel procurement specialist, and why are they important?

To excel as a Remote Travel Procurement Specialist, you need expertise in vendor negotiation, contract management, and travel industry knowledge, often supported by a degree in business or hospitality management. Familiarity with procurement software, global distribution systems (GDS), and travel management platforms is typically required. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication are vital soft skills for optimizing travel spend and managing relationships remotely. These competencies are essential to ensure cost-effective, efficient travel solutions that align with organizational goals.

Job description

ReNuke Services, Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Procurement Specialist to support a long-term advanced nuclear energy project. This position will work as part of an integrated project team supporting procurement, supplier coordination, and delivery of engineered equipment and services for a first-of-a-kind nuclear construction program.
Location: Remote
Travel: Periodic travel may be required
Employment: Full-Time, Contingent Project Assignment
Duration: 6- 8 Months with potential for extension
Position Summary
The Senior Procurement Specialist will support procurement activities associated with major engineered equipment, components, materials, and services

The successful candidate will work closely with engineering, project controls, contracts, suppliers, and project leadership to ensure procurement activities remain aligned with technical requirements, project schedules, budgets, and contractual commitments.
This position is well suited for someone with experience supporting nuclear, DOE, EPC, power generation, industrial construction, or other highly regulated capital projects.
Key Responsibilities
*Coordinate procurement activities for engineered equipment, materials, components, and project services.
*Support procurement planning from requisition development through solicitation, evaluation, award, delivery, and closeout.
*Coordinate with engineering and technical teams to ensure procurement packages contain complete and accurate technical requirements.
*Develop and/or support RFQs, RFPs, bid evaluations, purchase orders, subcontracts, and procurement documentation.
*Track supplier commitments, fabrication milestones, documentation, delivery dates, and procurement schedules.
*Monitor procurement activities against project schedules and identify potential delays or supplier performance concerns.
*Coordinate technical and commercial interfaces between suppliers, engineering, project management, contracts, quality, and project controls.
*Participate in supplier meetings, status reviews, kickoffs, and progress discussions.
*Support resolution of supplier issues, changes, documentation requirements, and schedule impacts.

*Maintain accurate procurement records and ensure activities comply with applicable project procedures, contractual requirements, and quality expectations.
*Support supplier performance monitoring and corrective actions when required.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is more than a transactional buyer. We are looking for someone who understands how engineering, procurement, supplier performance, cost, and schedule come together on a complex project.
Successful candidates will be comfortable working across engineering and commercial teams, communicating directly with suppliers, identifying procurement risks before they impact the project, and driving equipment and material commitments through delivery.
