Department: Operations
Reports To: Operations Manager

Position Summary

The Regional Dispatcher is responsible for the daily coordination and management of assigned drivers and equipment within a designated region. This role ensures safe, compliant, and profitable execution of freight movements while maintaining high service levels for customers. The dispatcher monitors driver availability, load assignments, transit status, and operational issues to maximize fleet utilization and on-time performance.

Key Responsibilities

Driver & Load Management

  • Dispatch and schedule drivers for assigned freight within the regional network.
  • Monitor load progress and proactively manage delays or service issues.
  • Maintain consistent communication with drivers regarding assignments, appointment times, and route planning.
  • Balance driver hours of service, home time requests, and operational requirements.

Customer Service & Communication

  • Coordinate with customer service, brokers, and shippers to ensure on-time pickup and delivery.
  • Communicate service updates, delays, and problem resolution to customers and internal teams.
  • Ensure customer requirements and accessorial instructions are followed.

Operational Efficiency

  • Maximize tractor and trailer utilization across the assigned fleet.
  • Minimize empty miles and optimize routing within the region.
  • Ensure drivers are positioned for future loads and network balance.

Compliance & Safety

  • Monitor driver HOS compliance, ELD logs (Samsara), and DOT regulations.
  • Ensure safe operating practices and adherence to company policies.
  • Coordinate with safety and maintenance regarding driver or equipment issues.

System Management

  • Maintain accurate load and driver information in the Transportation Management System (McLeod)
  • Update load statuses, arrival/departure times, and operational notes.
  • Review and manage dispatch boards and load planning screens.

Problem Resolution

  • Respond to breakdowns, service failures, weather disruptions, or other operational challenges.
  • Coordinate with maintenance, roadside assistance, and customers when issues arise.

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in truck dispatch, load planning, or transportation operations.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and Hours of Service.
  • Experience with TMS software (McLeod preferred).
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple drivers and loads simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience dispatching regional or dedicated fleets.
  • Familiarity with Northeast freight lanes and shipper networks.
  • Background in asset-based trucking operations.

Company Description

Daim, which is pronounce like the word “dame” is an acronym for Diversified Agricultural and Industrial Markets. That name says a lot about who we are and where we came from. The company’s founders, Chris and Pat Oare, started out in the agriculture field and quickly found that their real calling was in the transportation business. Not traveling far from their roots, they began transporting goods for many agricultural businesses and quickly spread to industrial markets as well and so, when the company was formed, the DAIM acronym soon followed!
We are diversified in our name and in our business model, we handle multiple types of fright for our customers. Currently we haul dry, tanker, and flatbed freight depending on what the customer needs for that shipment. Daim does not consider customers a customer we consider them a partner. This model has allowed DAIM to grow with each partner.
DAIM Trucking expanded quickly from two trucks to 65 trucks and consolidated operations under one roof. In 2009, DAIM Trucking moved into 30,000 sq ft custom built office and maintenance facility with 8 acres of working yard space and outside storage. In 2022 a 55,000 sq ft pharmacal grade warehouse completed. In 2024 Daim added a 50,000 sq ft commercial warehouse and a 60,000 sq ft lumber yard. Our location is less than 2 miles from the NYS Thruway (I-90, exit 28), the primary Northeast transportation corridor. Soon after, DAIM Trucking started a full-service freight brokering division servicing the entire 48 states to ensure full coverage of their customer shipping needs.
