Job description

Brand, IP & Business Strategy Trestle Law, APC • Fully Remote • $185,000–$225,000 (CALIFORNIA LICENSE REQUIRED)

Trestle Law is a modern intellectual property and business law firm. We work with founders, creators, and brand-driven businesses — the kind of clients who treat their IP as a strategic asset, not a checkbox. We are not a high-volume filing shop. We provide strategic counsel that helps clients protect, structure, and monetize what they've built.

We are hiring a senior attorney to take ownership of high-level matters across IP, business, and select federal litigation, and to help shape where the firm goes next.

This role is fully remote, Monday through Friday, 8 to 5 PST.

Compensation:

$185,000 - $225,000

Responsibilities:

If you are looking for big-law structure, this is not it. If you are looking to be a senior attorney inside a focused, growing boutique with real client relationships and real autonomy, keep reading.

What you'll do

  • Lead matters across business, IP, and select federal litigation, including trademark and copyright disputes, TTAB proceedings, licensing, and commercial contracts
  • Serve as primary counsel to clients on strategic IP and business matters — brand protection, monetization, contract negotiation, dispute strategy
  • Supervise paralegals and junior staff on trademark prosecution and copyright matters, with strategic review rather than line-level drafting
  • Mentor a developing junior attorney already running litigation matters
  • Collaborate with the managing attorney as a peer on firm strategy, client experience, and growth
  • Contribute to a premium advisory offering being built for high-value clients
  • Bill approximately 1,500 hours annually — a humane and realistic target

Qualifications:

Who you are

  • 8+ years of practice, with substantive experience in IP, business, and commercial litigation
  • Comfortable operating at a senior level: taking verbal direction, owning matters end-to-end, and exercising independent judgment
  • California bar in good standing
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills, with a track record of moving complex matters efficiently
  • Experience supervising and developing junior attorneys and staff
  • Comfortable with fixed-fee work and managing matters against a budget
  • Proficient in modern tools — Clio, SharePoint, Teams, Outlook, Word

You are likely a strong fit if you

  • Think like a business owner, not just a technician
  • See legal issues from 10,000 feet and act with the right level of detail
  • Take initiative without waiting to be told
  • Enjoy mentoring younger attorneys
  • Want to build something — not just bill hours

Preferred (not required)

  • Soft IP focus (trademark, copyright, trade dress)
  • TTAB experience
  • Experience advising founder-led or creative businesses
  • Origination welcome but not expected — we generate our own pipeline
